As the cool breeze begins to blow, I find myself wanting to go on an outing to enjoy the beautiful autumn scenery. I recently visited the Akyang Ecological Park in Haman, a representative autumn flower spot in Gyeongnam, where exotic pink muhly grass is in full bloom.
The park features flat walking paths adorned with pink muhly, making it a perfect spot for couples and families to enjoy a fall outing together.
Located in Daesan-myeon, Haman-gun, Akyang Ecological Park is a vast ecological park developed along the Namgang River. It is a representative natural relaxation space in Haman, where visitors can encounter various plants and flowers throughout the seasons. The park is equipped with walking paths and resting areas, making it a great place to leisurely explore and connect with nature.
From spring to autumn, the park's landscape changes with the seasons. Among its autumn attractions, the pink muhly field stands out as the main highlight.
The expansive pink muhly field, accompanied by a cosmos flower garden along the embankment path, draws many visitors eager to enjoy the autumn scenery. Spanning approximately 1,300 pyeong, the pink muhly field transforms into a sea of pink in the fall, creating an exotic atmosphere perfect for capturing beautiful photos.
After searching for Akyang Ecological Park on my navigation, I found a spacious parking lot conveniently located to the right of the entrance.
The park's information map provides a clear view of its vast size. Visitors can enjoy various seasonal flowers, including golden marigolds, rhododendrons, Shasta daisies, hydrangeas, rapeseed, and cosmos, making it an ideal spot for light outings throughout the year.
The pink muhly field is just a one-minute walk from the parking lot, located near the park entrance, making it easy to find upon arrival. The flat terrain is accessible for children, strollers, and wheelchairs.
Walking along the extended paths gives a sense of the park's vastness. The pink muhly planting area is enclosed with a fence, allowing visitors to stroll along the surrounding paths and take photos at designated spots.
While visitors cannot enter the pink muhly field for photos, there are various photo zones around the flower field with benches, chairs, and even a phone booth, providing great backdrops for capturing memories against the lush nature of Akyang Ecological Park.
To ensure the flowers remain beautiful for a long time, please enjoy them from outside the flower bed.
The color of the pink muhly changes slightly depending on the direction of sunlight, creating different atmospheres for photos even in the same location.
Throughout the ecological park, there are resting areas that complement the pink muhly, and picnic tables are available near the flower beds for everyone to use.
With the cool autumn weather, it's a perfect time to enjoy flower viewing and have a light picnic with drinks and snacks with loved ones.
During my visit to the pink muhly hotspot in early October, the flowers were not yet fully bloomed but already looked beautiful. I believe visiting in mid-October would be ideal to see the flowers in full bloom.
After enjoying the pink muhly, I walked along the embankment path where cosmos flowers were blooming, making it a pleasant stroll back to the parking lot. There are benches along the embankment path, perfect for taking a break while enjoying the riverside breeze.
One of the best aspects of Akyang Ecological Park is the visitor center located near the ecological pond, which offers restrooms, a small shop, and a café, allowing for easy access to snacks. Sitting on a bench with a cup of coffee while admiring the autumn flowers is truly a healing experience.
Akyang Ecological Park, known for its pink muhly, offers a delightful autumn experience with both the pink muhly and cosmos along the Namgang embankment. The visitor center's shop and café are great for resting before or after a walk, and the park provides ample opportunities for taking beautiful photos. If you're looking for a light outing spot in Gyeongnam to enjoy flower viewing in October, consider visiting Akyang Ecological Park.
