The Incheon Sora Wetland Ecological Park, located in the Namdong District of Incheon, is a remarkable destination that has transformed from a former salt field into a vast ecological park, attracting visitors seeking relief from the summer heat.
With no entrance fee, families and couples can enjoy ecological experiences for children while taking in the serene landscapes, making it an ideal weekend getaway.
Covering an area of approximately 3.5 million square meters, this park was developed with an investment of 96.8 billion KRW and is managed by the local government, allowing free access for everyone.
The park is open for general viewing from 10 AM to 6 PM, with the last admission at 5:30 PM. During winter, the closing time is moved up to 5:30 PM. It is advisable to check the schedule as the park is closed on Mondays and the day after public holidays.
As you stroll through the park, you'll encounter three charming red-roofed windmills and can participate in unique experiences, such as harvesting salt at the salt field learning center around 4 PM.
The ecological exhibition hall, divided into four areas, offers opportunities to observe tidal flats and learn about the principles of salt. From March to November, an outdoor footbath is available, perfect for cooling off tired feet after a walk.
The park also holds historical significance, with remnants of the Sora Salt Field, which operated for 60 years before closing in 1996. The salt warehouses, particularly the one built in 1936, are recognized for their cultural heritage value.
After exploring the wetland, a short walk will take you to the nearby Sora Port Fish Market, where you can enjoy fresh seafood and the lively atmosphere without needing a car, thanks to convenient public transport.
A recommended itinerary includes visiting the ecological exhibition hall and tidal flats in the afternoon, followed by enjoying the sunset while savoring a meal at the fish market. If you're visiting in a group, remember to make a reservation in advance.
