On October 15th, I revisited Byeolbaram Hill to check the blooming status of the Astor chrysanthemums.
Even though the Astor Chrysanthemum Festival had ended, the parking lot was still packed with cars.
During the festival, only pre-booked vehicles were allowed to access Byeolbaram Hill, while others had to take a shuttle bus.
Now that the festival is over, it was convenient to drive up.
At the entrance of Byeolbaram Hill, I noticed visitors reading about must-visit places and restaurants in Geochang.
Byeolbaram Hill is famous for its purple Astor chrysanthemums and large wind turbines, making it a popular autumn photo spot.
On October 15th, the Astor chrysanthemums were at their peak bloom.
I visited in the late afternoon and, having missed lunch, decided to grab a bite at the food market.
During the festival, the food market was run by the women's associations of Sinwon and Namsang, but now only the Sinwon market is operating.
The food market at Byeolbaram Hill will remain open until Sunday, October 18, 2026.
I ordered apple bibimbap and two Shin Ramyeon. The apple added a refreshing taste to the bibimbap.
The kimchi was homemade and delicious, so I refilled it once more.
After lunch, I also stopped by the Flower Star Market, where I found Shine Muscat grapes at a reasonable price.
The large wind turbine looked to be about 20-30 meters tall.
On the left side of the flower field were the Korean bellflowers, and on the right were the gujeolcho flowers.
Most of the Korean bellflowers had already wilted.
However, there were still many gujeolcho flowers left, making it a great backdrop for photos.
Above the gujeolcho area, there is also a miscanthus maze, which reminded me of the deepening autumn.
I also climbed up to the Gamaksan Observatory, which offers a panoramic view of Byeolbaram Hill.
The wind turbines in a row always seem to blend perfectly with the scenery of Byeolbaram Hill.
From the observatory, you can see the entire landscape of Byeolbaram Hill.
Even in the late afternoon after the festival, cars were continuously driving up to Byeolbaram Hill.
There were also rainbow-colored chairs set up, perfect for group photos with friends.
While some flowers were wilting, there were still fresh Astor chrysanthemums blooming on October 15th.
The path at Byeolbaram Hill was lined with palm mats, making it very comfortable to walk.
If you enjoyed the Astor chrysanthemums at Byeolbaram Hill, be sure to visit the Gamaksan Mineral Spring, just a three-minute drive away.
Although there are no signs for the spring, the address is as follows: 436-45 Gamaksan-ro, Sinwon-myeon, Geochang-gun.
It's nice to bring a water bottle, but if you don't have one, you can use a tumbler or plastic bottle from your car to fill up with water.
There’s also a barefoot walking path, which is great for your health, so don't miss the Gamaksan Mineral Spring!
