As autumn arrives, the cool weather makes me want to spend leisurely hours reading a book in a quiet place.
This time, I visited the Ulsan Jonggajip Library for the first time, located in Jung-gu, Ulsan.
Upon arrival, I found the newly constructed space to be clean and comfortable overall.
It felt less like just a place to borrow books and more like a cozy environment ideal for leisurely reading.
The Ulsan Jonggajip Library officially opened on October 24, 2024, and it boasts a sizable reading area with 463 seats.
If you're driving, you might be curious about the parking situation.
The library has an underground parking lot with 50 spaces. However, I found it to be somewhat limited compared to the library's size.
Especially on weekends, when there are more visitors, parking may be tight, so arriving a bit earlier is advisable.
The general reading room and the Fun and Open Maru are open from 9 AM to 10 PM from Tuesday to Friday, and until 6 PM on weekends.
The children's reading room is available from 9 AM to 6 PM from Tuesday to Sunday, while the library is closed on Mondays and public holidays.
The extended hours on weekdays until 10 PM are convenient for working individuals looking to read or study after work.
One of the most impressive aspects of the library was its interior layout.
Spanning from the basement to the third floor, the open central area creates a spacious feel, making it look larger than it actually is.

As a new library, it has a clean and pleasant atmosphere that I appreciated.

It’s a great spot for adults to read alone, but the dedicated children's reading room also makes it suitable for families.

The book café in the basement is a nice spot to take a break while reading, and there’s a special area for themed books.
If you visit without a specific book in mind, browsing through the themed book section could be a delightful experience.
One of the greatest advantages I noticed while exploring the Jonggajip Library is the variety of reading spaces available.
In addition to standard desks and chairs, there are comfortable spots throughout where you can sit and read.
This makes it easy to spend time here, even if you visit alone.
