A Unique Dining Experience with Jeju Black Pork

During my search for delicious black pork in Jeju, I discovered Borum Forest, a unique restaurant in Seogwipo that specializes in smoked black pork. While many places grill on charcoal, Borum Forest offers a distinctive smoked cooking method that piqued my curiosity.
After hearing positive reviews about the ambiance, I visited with high expectations, and I must say, it was a fantastic choice! Among all the black pork restaurants in Jungmun I've tried, this one stood out as the best.
Borum Forest is located about 4km from the Jungmun Tourist Complex. For two people, a smoked black pork set is available for 79,000 KRW, featuring a variety of cuts. The dining experience rivals fine dining, yet the price is quite reasonable.
In addition to black pork, they also offer premium Korean beef. You can even order wine to enhance the dining atmosphere, and all the meat is grilled by a professional griller.
Surrounded by nature, the restaurant boasts a beautiful garden view, making for a pleasant dining experience. It's advisable to make a reservation due to its popularity. I used the Catch Table app to secure my spot, allowing me to skip the wait upon arrival.
If you're visiting without a reservation, you can use a waiting machine at the entrance. There's a comfortable waiting area equipped with refreshments and charging stations. If you find yourself waiting, take a stroll in the outdoor garden to enjoy the serene environment.
The restaurant is located at 255 1100-ro, Seogwipo, Jeju, and has ample parking available. It operates daily from 12:00 PM to 9:30 PM, with a break from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM.
Upon entering, I was immediately impressed by the stylish interior, which feels more like a chic café than a typical meat restaurant. The highlight was the stunning garden view visible through large windows, creating a calm and soothing atmosphere.
During my visit, light rain added to the cozy ambiance, making it even more enjoyable. On sunny days, outdoor dining is available, but reservations for outdoor seating are not accepted, so plan accordingly.
I ordered the restaurant's signature smoked pork set, which included a generous selection of cuts: belly, neck, rib, and shoulder. The portion was more than enough for two people, complemented by whole onions. The meat arrived pre-cooked and beautifully presented, with an enticing aroma that made my mouth water.
The side dishes were diverse, featuring around ten varieties. The pickled vegetables and refreshing radish kimchi balanced the richness of the meat. The special sauce made with fermented shrimp added a delicious kick.
The smoked black pork was incredibly tender, with a rich oak flavor that set it apart from typical grilled meats. It melted in my mouth, providing an unforgettable experience.
For a side dish, I tried the radish stir-fried rice, which was delightful. The crunchy texture of the radish combined with the savory seasoning made it a standout dish.
In summary, Borum Forest is conveniently located near popular tourist attractions like Jusangjeolli, Seongnamsa Temple, and Cheonjiyeon Waterfall, making it an ideal spot for dinner after a day of sightseeing. I highly recommend making a reservation before your visit!
