Springtime Bliss at Wanju Hwasan Flower Garden
As spring arrives, our hearts flutter with excitement.
The warm air bursts forth with blossoms as flowers and trees bloom, transforming the once colorless mountains and fields into a vibrant tapestry of spring.
With the gentle spring breeze, Wanju Hwasan welcomes the season with azaleas in full bloom beyond the village walls and fields of bright yellow canola flowers.
Hwasan-myeon has also welcomed the warm spring without fail.
Wanju Hwasan Flower Garden, renowned for its stunning harmony of azaleas and double cherry blossoms, is located at 3-1 Chunsan-ri, Hwasan-myeon, Wanju-gun, Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province.
This garden was established about 30 years ago by an individual who planted azaleas across a vast area of over 100,000 pyeong.
By the end of April, the azaleas fill the deck walkway, creating a sensation as if walking among flowers in the sky.
Currently, it has gained popularity on social media, becoming a tourist hotspot where many visitors flock on weekends. In April, when the azaleas bloom, it is one of the must-visit destinations in Wanju.
To reach the entrance of the flower garden, you need to walk for about 10 minutes.
If you visit in early April, you can see forsythia, plum blossoms, cherry blossoms, and rhododendrons. From late April to early May, you can enjoy azaleas, royal cherry blossoms, double yellow magnolias, and flowering turf.
On April 26, 2026, when I visited, the azalea deck walkway was adorned with blooming azaleas and yellow magnolias, creating yet another picturesque scene.
