The Geumgang Arboretum, which temporarily left us, has returned to Sejong.

The Chungnam Forest Resource Research Institute, which includes the Geumgang Arboretum, is owned by Chungcheongnam-do, but is actually located in Sejong City. Last July, the institute decided to relocate to Cheongyang and has been going through the closure process. However, since the institute's site includes the Geumgang Natural Recreation Forest and the Geumgang Arboretum, there has been a continuous call for securing public access for leisure and relaxation spaces for local residents and for the preservation of the natural environment.

In response to these demands, Sejong City and Chungcheongnam-do have signed an agreement focusing on the efficient operation and activation of the Geumgang Arboretum, including operational personnel, costs, facility expenses, and administrative procedures related to reopening. According to the agreement, outdoor spaces such as the yellow clay meta-path and walking trails will be temporarily opened for free to local residents, while indoor facilities like accommodations, tropical greenhouses, and the forest museum will be gradually opened after comprehensive inspections and remodeling.

The Geumgang Arboretum offers beautiful nature throughout the four seasons,

especially renowned for its stunning autumn foliage.

Eager to fully experience the autumn of the returning Geumgang Arboretum,

I visited on a rainy autumn day.

The scent of autumn greets me right from the entrance.

On November 7 (Saturday), a cultural festival in the forest will also take place.

Entry is free, but tickets must be obtained from the automatic ticket machine at the entrance.

After passing the ticket booth, I head left towards Baekje Garden.

The autumn scenery at Baekje Garden is lovely.

I continue my walk to the Lotus Garden.

The Lotus Garden is one of the best spots for autumn foliage in the Geumgang Arboretum.

The leaves around the Lotus Garden are beautifully colored.

The Lotus Garden never disappoints me.

The maple trees, glistening with raindrops, exude a fresh autumn scent.

Even in the rain, the red autumn leaves by the pond are ablaze.

I capture the view of the Lotus Garden from the bridge.

The leaves of the azalea trees by the pond are also turning red.

Suddenly, an azalea flower has bloomed.

It seems like an immature child who can't tell whether it's spring or autumn.

As I try to head to the Maple Tree Garden,

I find it closed.

I bet the foliage is beautiful right now; it's such a pity.

Reluctantly, I make my way past the Forest Museum to the Wildflower Garden.

The ginkgo trees in the Wildflower Garden have turned yellow.

Persimmons are ripening on the persimmon tree next to the fruit tree garden.

On the way from the fruit tree garden to the wetland area, I immerse myself in autumn with the beautifully fallen leaves.

The sight of persimmons and autumn leaves together is so charming.

In the wetland area, several larch trees are turning autumn colors.

One characteristic of larch trees is that their breathing roots rise above the ground.

Here in the wetland area, you can see the roots of larch trees peeking out of the ground.

Unlike metasequoia, larch leaves are arranged alternately,

while metasequoia leaves face each other.

Next, I head to the Metasequoia Path, one of the highlights of the Geumgang Arboretum.

The Metasequoia Path is made of a yellow clay path,

making it great for health through barefoot walking.

Despite the rainy weather, many visitors are enjoying autumn by walking the Metasequoia Path.

Facilities are available to wash feet after barefoot walking.

On the way back, I capture the climbing ivy on the stone wall.

The ivy seems to signal that autumn is deepening.

The Geumgang Arboretum has returned to the citizens of Sejong,

how could we not be delighted?

During the temporary opening period until the end of this year, entry is free,

and especially on the weekend of November 7 (Saturday), a cultural festival in the forest will be held.

I hope you enjoy the deepening autumn at the Geumgang Arboretum.
