Raising a child involves significant monthly expenses, especially for diapers and formula.
For families with infants, these items are essential, making it crucial to carefully review related support policies.
Starting July 2026, Dangjin City announced that it would relax the eligibility criteria for diaper and formula vouchers for households with disabilities and multiple children.
Curious about the application process, I visited the Dangjin Health Center to learn more.
During my visit, I explored how the eligibility criteria have expanded and checked where to apply and what documents are required.
From experience programs for seniors to application guidance from the maternal health team, I will share what I observed on-site.
On that day, the health center was also running hands-on experience programs for seniors.
Tables were set up in front of walls filled with greenery, where seniors gathered to create crafts.
Various decorative items and wooden utensils were available on the tables.
The seniors were examining the crafts they liked and participating by touching and creating.
I also took a moment to observe the program from a distance.
It reminded me that health starts from small daily habits rather than just special moments.
Although the crafts were simple, they seemed to provide great support to the seniors.
Visiting the health center for diaper and formula support while also exploring health programs for local seniors made it a particularly impressive experience.
Engaging in craft-making and focusing on the completed pieces felt like an activity that adds vitality to the seniors' daily lives.
To alleviate the childcare burden for families with infants under two years old, Dangjin City has relaxed the support criteria starting July 2026.
The income eligibility for these households has been expanded from 80% to 100% of the median income, allowing more families to receive support.
Notably, the support thresholds for households receiving basic living security, near-poverty families, and single-parent families have also been lowered.
However, not all households receiving diaper support will qualify for formula assistance.
Specific criteria must be met, such as difficulties in breastfeeding due to maternal death or illness, or being a child under institutional care.
Initially, I thought I could apply at the information desk and waited in line there.
However, the application process actually begins on the second floor at the maternal health team.
Once you move to the maternal health team on the second floor, staff will guide you through the main details of the support program and the application process.
After confirming the eligibility and application method, you can fill out the necessary documents on-site.
If you are not familiar with online applications, don't hesitate to visit the health center.
After receiving guidance from the maternal health team, I needed to fill out four related documents to proceed with the application.
The application form and guidebook included necessary information such as the social security benefit application and consent for personal information collection and use.
The process involved confirming the applicant's basic information and family details, followed by selecting which support to apply for.
Depending on the type of support, additional documents may be required, so it's advisable to inquire about needed materials before your visit for a smoother application.
It is important to not just be aware of the policies but also to ensure that eligible families can connect those needs to actual benefits by preparing application timing and required documents in advance.
I hope many people can benefit from this support.
