Hello! It's already November 1st, with just two months left in the 26-year calendar.

As we approach the end of a particularly brief autumn, I want to share my fresh experience with the popular fall foliage destination, Gajowon Anti-Aging Healing Land. They are currently offering a 10% discount (excluding alcohol and beverages) at Gochang Beef Bone Soup, where I tried their newly introduced seasonal dish, 'Fresh Carp Sashimi'.

Menu and Pricing (Seasonal Dishes)

This place is well-known for its hearty herbal beef bone soup (12,000 KRW), charcoal-grilled ribs, and herbal mushroom stew. Starting in October, they began serving fresh carp sashimi!

Fresh Carp Sashimi Pricing: Basic (1.5kg) 45,000 KRW / 2-3 people 60,000 KRW / 3-4 people 75,000 KRW (additional 1kg for 30,000 KRW)

Other Popular Dishes: Mixed Fish Soup Noodles (10,000 KRW), Spicy Catfish Soup (35,000 KRW+), Herbal Beef Bone Soup (12,000 KRW), Steamed Dumplings (6,000 KRW) (All menu items available for takeout)

✅ Enjoying the Benefits and Safety of 'Fresh Carp'

Some people worry about parasites in freshwater fish, but I felt reassured after reading the notice posted in the restaurant.

Rigorous Safety: Farmed fresh carp grow in environments where the parasite cannot survive, and studies confirm that the fish's skin acts as a barrier against parasites.

Rich in Nutrition: Fresh carp has firm flesh and is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, DHA, EPA, and essential amino acids, making it a healthy food that helps prevent adult diseases like atherosclerosis and diabetes, as well as supporting children's brain development.

Beautifully Presented Seasonal Carp Sashimi

I visited yesterday! It was perfectly in season, with no fishy smell at all. The sashimi was fresh, nutty, and tender—truly delicious. The plate was generously garnished with sesame seeds and finely chopped green onions, making it visually appealing.

All the side dishes were equally tempting, including crispy tofu, radish salad, sweet potato fritters, boiled silkworms, pickled cucumbers and peppers, and fresh fruit salad.

With the addition of a fluffy steamed egg, we enjoyed a hearty meal.

Each serving included four pieces of sushi rice, which we topped with the sashimi. It was so delicious that I almost forgot to take pictures!

Carp Sashimi with Wasabi Soy Sauce and Minced Garlic

Two Sauce Combinations for Your Taste (Highly recommend adding Zaephi powder!)

The flavor of carp sashimi changes depending on the sauce. My husband and I enjoyed it in our own styles.

I usually enjoy both freshwater and saltwater fish, so I prefer a sauce with soy sauce, wasabi, and vinegar. This time, I added minced garlic and Zaephi powder, and it was amazing!

I realized for the first time that Zaephi powder pairs perfectly with carp sashimi, a combination I had only previously used with spicy fish soup. The unique aroma and flavor of Zaephi complemented the sashimi beautifully!

We also tried adding Zaephi powder to the spicy dipping sauce, which enhanced the flavor of the sashimi significantly!

While I've typically paired Zaephi leaves with grilled pork or used Zaephi powder only in soups, I discovered its perfect match with carp sashimi.

After finishing the sashimi, we ordered spicy soup (6,000 KRW). The broth made from the leftover bones was rich and flavorful.

It included chewy handmade noodles, making it a truly satisfying meal!

If you're planning a visit to Gajowon Anti-Aging Healing Land, don't miss out on the 10% discount and enjoy the seasonal carp sashimi and spicy soup!
