Shinan County's Dementia Prevention Initiative

Hello!
This is Shinan County.
On May 15th, we launched a dementia prevention initiative
targeting over 300 residents of Aphae-eup.
This program is part of our 'Visiting Medical Services'
aimed at improving access to healthcare for residents
in rural areas where medical services are relatively scarce.
We collaborated with the Aphae Agricultural Cooperative
to provide a variety of healthcare and welfare services
to ensure residents can conveniently manage their health.
During this event, we offered a range of health services including:
✔️ Traditional and Western medical consultations
✔️ Oral health check-ups
✔️ Eye examinations and magnifying glass support
✔️ Early dementia screenings
These services received a warm response from the community.
At the Shinan County Dementia Safety Center,
we conducted dementia screening tests and personalized consultations,
carefully assessing the cognitive health of our elderly residents.
If cognitive decline is suspected, we will support
referrals for detailed examinations at partner hospitals.
Once registered as dementia patients, they will receive
support for essential items and management costs for dementia treatment.
Shinan County will continue to work closely with relevant agencies
to establish a robust safety net without blind spots for dementia
and to expand community-centered dementia safety services
that residents can truly feel.
