Greetings from the Cultural City of Chilgok!

Here's a review of the Senior Theater Program's performance, where participants challenged themselves with new cultural and artistic activities through the theater production process.

This program aims to expand the social connections and revitalize the lives of the 50-70 generation.

The Senior Theater Program involved weekly rehearsals every Tuesday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Hyangsa Art Center's main practice room.

Starting in August, under the hot summer sun, the program culminated in November after 12 weeks, showcasing the efforts, laughter, and tears of 14 Chilgok seniors.

On November 1, 2025 (Saturday) at 5:00 PM, the Hyangsa Art Center hosted the Senior Theater Program's performance:

"Storytelling Play: Back Then, There, Chilgok."

Because the script was based on stories from Chilgok, the actors developed a deeper understanding of the region, which allowed them to deliver more realistic performances.

Rehearsal

During the final rehearsals before the performance, the passion of the participants was palpable.

The final rehearsal included costumes and props, leading to greater concentration and immersion.

As the audience began to enter, the seats quickly filled up!

Before taking the stage, the actors and directors gathered to shout "Fighting!!", reinforcing their commitment to a successful performance. ✨

Before the performance, an archival video was shown, highlighting the preparation process over the past 12 weeks and introducing the actors who would be performing on stage.

After the video, the audience applauded, ready to welcome the actors.

The performance began with an introduction and narration by "Go Seong-soon," who played the role of a fishmonger.

The audience was captivated, drawn in by the participants' immersion in their roles.

Many audience members were moved to tears, especially during the scenes depicting the refugees.

As the play concluded, the Chilgok senior theater actors received thunderous applause during the curtain call.

It was an honor to witness their transformation and dedication over the eventful 12 weeks, culminating in a performance that resonated deeply with the audience. It was a truly happy and touching moment. ✨✨
