Hello, this is Chilgok, a Cultural City.
At the 'Chilgok Cultural City Traveler Center,' created as part of the Cultural City project,
we operate various cultural programs every Wednesday and Saturday from April to November,
where residents can communicate and learn together!
On November 5th and 12th, the forty-eighth class, 〈Hand-Drip Coffee Class〉, was held!
Shall we take a look at the scene filled with the savory and slightly bitter scent of coffee?
Hand-Drip Coffee Class
Coffee, an indispensable beverage for modern people!☕
Recently, we can see many different menus using coffee.
This time, we learned how to brew coffee using hand-drip.
The hand-drip coffee class was conducted by Han Mu-hyun, who runs a cafe in Chilgok!????
In the first class, we learned about coffee theory and
learned how to make hand-drip coffee at home.
Participants learned about coffee varieties, environmental factors for coffee bean growth, and the shape of coffee beans.
We looked at the process from coffee bean harvesting to roasting.
We checked what happens before we drink a cup of coffee.????????
Next, we learned about hand-drip brewing in theory!????
We learned about the tools needed for hand-drip, also known as filter coffee.
Participants got closer to hand-drip by looking at the tools with their own eyes and hands.
After the instructor's hand-drip demonstration, the participants brewed coffee using hand-drip themselves.
Using a grinder, they finely ground the blending beans prepared by the instructor.
They poured hot water while adjusting the time and amount.
The first class ended with tasting the brewed coffee.????
The second class started by learning how to use an automatic grinder.
We could see that the beans were ground at a much faster rate
than the manual grinder we used last time.????
Next, we had time to brew and drink three types of beans: blending, Ethiopia, and decaffeinated.
Participants used the automatic grinder to grind the beans finely as they learned
and poured water at the right temperature to brew coffee!????
Some participants said that the bitter blending beans tasted better according to their personal preference.
Some participants said that the acidic Ethiopian beans tasted better.
Some participants said that it would be good to mix them appropriately!????
After putting the carefully brewed coffee into their own tumblers,
the hand-drip coffee class ended with a Q&A session!????
You can now enjoy delicious coffee at home with the hand-drip you learned in class.
This class was a fragrant and fruitful time to learn about ways to enjoy coffee
and find your coffee preference by comparing each bean.????
Like this, new programs are held every week at the 'Chilgok Cultural City Traveler Center'.
How about spending time enjoying and experiencing various cultures with <Chilgok Cultural City> without going far from home?
Then, see you in the next program review????
