As autumn arrives, the fields of Gochang announce its presence. The once vibrant green barley waves of spring give way to a vast flower field filled with white buckwheat flowers and yellow sunflowers, along with colorful zinnias and cosmos in the fall. This year's sunflower and buckwheat flower festival runs from September 19 to October 18. I visited at the perfect timing right at the beginning.

On the last day of the Chuseok holiday, I headed to the farm, curious about how much the autumn flowers had bloomed. The feeling of seeing the fields for the first time at the entrance was always exhilarating, and to summarize, it was indeed beautiful at this time.

In the central field, sunflowers were about 70% in bloom, while the buckwheat flowers were about 80% open. The vibrant colors of zinnias spread between the yellow and white flowers were too rich to capture in a single photo. However, since the farm is vast, the blooming times vary slightly across different areas. While the central field was racing towards its peak, the buckwheat flowers near the parking lot, the sunset field, and the secret forest were quietly preparing for their own peak.

Hakwon Farm spans about 300,000 pyeong of hilly terrain and was designated as a tourist farm in 1994. The gentle hills and fields attract hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. It used to be free to enter, but starting last year, an admission fee was charged for the central walking path.

This year's festival boasts the largest sunflower field ever. Half of the central field is filled with white buckwheat flowers, while the other half is taken up by yellow sunflowers, orange cosmos, and zinnias. The sight of these three colors swaying together in the wind was mesmerizing.

Hakwon Farm gained national fame as a filming location for the drama 'Goblin' (2016-2017). The buckwheat flower field and the set where the character Goblin walked remain unchanged, giving visitors a dreamy feeling as if they have stepped into a scene from the drama.

Walking along the path leading to the filming location of 'Lovers,' the sunflower field, which is about 70% in bloom, was beginning to turn the entire field into a golden wave. Sunflowers are not just a single flower but a large flower made up of small central florets and outer tongue flowers. The spiral arrangement of seeds at the center perfectly illustrates nature's geometry.

As I walked through the buckwheat flower path, I felt a sense of calmness. The simple charm of the white buckwheat flowers was enchanting, and when viewed from a distance, it looked like a blanket of snow covering the hills. The upcoming autumn promises even more vibrant colors as the cosmos and zinnias bloom.

As I await the deepening autumn of Hakwon Farm, the central field has opened the season, but the farm's full autumn is yet to come. The buckwheat flowers along the paths will reach their peak in early October, offering new scenery with each visit.

Experience the beauty of the white buckwheat flowers and capture your favorite moment among the sunflowers and cosmos this autumn at Hakwon Farm.
