The 42nd Gimhae Jin-Young Sweet Persimmon Festival took place from October 30 (Friday) to November 1 (Sunday), 2026.
The festival was held at the special event venue within the Jin-Young Sports Complex located at 257 Gimhae-daero, Jin-Young-eup, Gimhae-si.
Organized by the Gimhae Jin-Young Sweet Persimmon Festival Committee, the event was supported by the city of Gimhae.
The opening ceremony began at 6 PM on October 30, featuring introductions of distinguished guests, a declaration of the festival's start, welcoming remarks, and congratulatory speeches. Each change on the large screen made it feel real that we were opening the first day of the festival together.
The opening performance showcased bright lighting and stage effects that stood out in the darkness. During the day, tents surrounding the sports field were noticeable, while at night, the flickering lights between the stage and the audience became the focal point of the scenery.
The performances included artists such as Cyberger, Lee Hyun-joo, and Hwang In-a. The audience actively participated by waving their hands and cheering, enhancing the excitement of the show.
Many spectators stood at the back of the seating area, and I too felt my legs grow heavy after standing for a while, leaving after watching the 21st batch performance. Although I didn’t stay until the end, the sight of the audience responding to the same song remained vivid in my memory.
Before the performances, I explored the exhibition area, which presented another face of the festival. The '100-Year Jin-Young Sweet Persimmon History Hall' allowed visitors to trace the relationship between Jin-Young and the sweet persimmon.
The exhibition showcased various types of sweet persimmons, each with different sizes and colors. Reading the labels like 'Romance' and 'Fantasy' offered a fresh perspective on the sweet persimmons I usually associate with just one appearance.
The festival concluded, but the vibrant orange sweet persimmons and the shining audience left a lasting impression of autumn. I look forward to what stories and new experiences await visitors next year when the harvest season returns.
