Today, I would like to share my travel story about Jangak Waterfall, a hidden gem in Sangju, Gyeongbuk, created by the cool streams flowing from Cheonhwangbong peak.

This place, where majestic rock cliffs meet lush pine forests, resembles a beautiful landscape painting, providing a refreshing experience just by looking at it.

Let me introduce you to the charm of Jangak Waterfall along with some useful information and breathtaking scenery.

Sangju Jangak Waterfall

Location: Sang-o-ri, Hwabuk-myeon, Sangju, Gyeongbuk

Operating Hours: Open 24 hours a day, year-round

Admission Fee: Free

Facilities: Public restrooms (near the waterfall) and resting areas like Geumranjeong Pavilion

Parking: Dedicated parking spaces are available around the waterfall entrance.

Jangak Waterfall, located in Hwabuk-myeon, Sangju, is a stunning site where the streams originating from Cheonhwangbong peak cascade down a 6-meter high rocky cliff, forming a deep pool.

The pavilion above the waterfall, along with the dense pine forest, boasts one of the most beautiful sceneries in Gyeongsangbuk-do.

Surrounding the waterfall are well-maintained monuments and poet's stones, where poems celebrating the beauty of Jangak Waterfall are inscribed, providing a space to appreciate both nature and literary sentiments.

The white fence and stone monument standing tall against the backdrop of the green pine forest create a serene atmosphere.

A walking trail leads upstream along the valley, equipped with safety lines and signs for safe exploration.

The clear water flowing over the rocks brings peace to the mind just by looking at it.

Thanks to the surrounding lush pine forest, visitors can enjoy fresh phytoncides while healing in nature, making it a perfect place to take a quiet stroll and relax.

On the day I visited Jangak Waterfall, it was drizzling. Please enjoy the view only from a distance on rainy days and avoid entering safety zones as it can be slippery.

The streams flowing down the rocky valley create small waterfalls, with the water so transparent that the pebbles and moss at the bottom are clearly visible.

The surrounding moss-covered rocks and wildflowers convey the vitality of the primeval forest, making it an excellent spot to enjoy the tranquility of the water.

Perched on the cliff is the majestic Geumranjeong Pavilion, with its red pillars and traditional tiled roof harmonizing beautifully with the green forest.

This pavilion serves as a resting spot for visitors to escape the rain and offers a stunning viewpoint overlooking the waterfall and its surroundings.

From Geumranjeong, you can see the pool downstream of the waterfall, where safety fences and nets are installed to ensure safe water play during summer.

While the nets may obstruct a full view of the waterfall's beauty, they are necessary for preventing accidents as people dive into the water.

Now, let's head down to see Jangak Waterfall.

The clear water allows for a refreshing foot soak, with clear boundaries marking safe zones for families with children to enjoy without worry.
