If you are looking for a new experience for a fall outing with your child, how about an insect observation program? The Gyeonggi Agricultural Technology Institute offers an 'Insect Docent Tour' for families with kindergarten and elementary school children. This hands-on program allows participants to closely observe live insects, listen to expert explanations, and engage in activities such as making, tasting, and collecting insects.

The Insect Docent Tour runs from October 1 to November 6 at the Insect Resource Center of the Gyeonggi Agricultural Technology Institute. It is held once a day on weekdays from 3 PM to 5 PM, making it convenient for parents to participate after picking up their children from school.

At the insect ecological greenhouse, you can meet various insects, including stag beetles, rhinoceros beetles, and mantises. Insect specialists will explain their feeding habits and growth characteristics, allowing children to learn more about insects they are curious about.
Experience insects with all five senses through tasting, creating, and exploring.
The Insect Docent Tour is not just about observing; participants will learn why edible insects are gaining attention as a future food resource and will taste cookies made with edible insects. There will also be opportunities to create insect crafts and participate in collecting caterpillars. This experience can satisfy the curiosity of insect-loving children and help those who are usually hesitant about insects feel more familiar with them. Plus, all these experiences are free!
Registration for the Insect Docent Tour is ongoing on the Gyeonggi Insect Festival blog. Only families can apply, with a maximum of five participants per family. Note that duplicate registrations for the same date are not allowed, and date changes or cancellations can only be made by phone.
