Today, I would like to introduce you to a perfect place for a leisurely stroll along a serene stone wall path!
This is Cheongdo Fortress, a representative healing spot in Cheongdo, Gyeongsangbuk-do.

Operating Hours: Open 24 hours a day, year-round

Under the blue sky, the endless fortress walls and the open landscape are truly magnificent!
Just stepping away from the city and walking in the cool breeze here is a healing experience.
There is ample parking space, making it a great spot to visit with family or loved ones.
Fortress Pathway
Upon arrival, you'll be amazed by the grand stone walls of the fortress.
You can slowly walk along the meticulously stacked stone wall path!
Once you reach the top of the wall, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the surrounding village and the lush green mountains.
A refreshing breeze flows through, making the walk feel exhilarating.
While walking along the fortress pathway, I also encountered a cute dog enjoying its stroll.
The relaxed scenery of the fortress was a perfect match, and just watching it was truly healing!
Historical Prison 'Hyungok'
As you walk inside the fortress, you'll notice a unique round wall.
This is 'Hyungok,' a prison used during the Joseon Dynasty!
It has been restored based on historical documents.
Inside the round wall, you can see models of prisoners with swords and old punishment facilities like the flogging frame, which were vividly recreated.
Lotus Pond and Serene Pavilion
As you descend from the fortress, you'll find a spacious lotus pond and a charming pavilion.
The tranquil pond is adorned with floating lotus leaves, and it's a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the view.
Sitting under the shade of the pavilion, feeling the breeze, brought me peace of mind.
After a bit of walking from the prison area, I reached the 'Cheongdo Ice Storage,' designated as a cultural treasure!
This is said to be the oldest ice storage facility in Korea, built during the reign of King Sukjong of Joseon.
The earthen roof has been removed, allowing you to see the arch-shaped stone structure and the open interior clearly.
It was fascinating to see it up close.
Without any entrance fee, I enjoyed a delightful day exploring the fortress, the historical prison, the serene lotus pond pavilion, and the historically significant ice storage.
