Bongseong Reservoir is surrounded by mountains in Yeohang-myeon, Hamann. Originally created to supply agricultural water, it has now been transformed into a space for leisurely walks with trails and resting areas. This is a great place to enjoy a stroll along the tranquil waters while being embraced by the energy of the surrounding Yeohang Mountain.
There is parking available at the entrance of Bongseong Reservoir. There are no parking fees or entrance fees, but it is important to note that access may be restricted depending on weather conditions.
Restrooms and dustpans are provided. The trail around Bongseong Reservoir connects the dam, forest paths, and village roads, totaling approximately 2.9 km. Hikers and trekkers typically take a break here before starting their journey.
There is a signpost for the Yeohang Lake Trail, which is part of the beautiful 11 trails in Hamann. In addition to the Yeohang Lake Trail, there are 10 other paths, including Akyang Ecological Park and the roads below Geomamsan. Personally, I would love to walk all of them at least once.
Above the signpost, there is a pavilion called Geumgyejeong, which provides shade under its roof, serving as a resting place. The weather was hot that day, so I took a good rest here before continuing my walk.
This location offers a view of Bongseong Reservoir and part of the overall walking trail, making it a perfect spot for relaxing by the water when the weather cools down. The calm water and soft, rolling mountain ridges create a stunning landscape.
A walking path has been constructed along the edge of the reservoir. At the beginning, you can see water on one side and a mountain cliff on the other. The sound of the wind rustling through the trees and the lush greenery make for a pleasant walking environment from start to finish.
As I walked further, I began to see the views of Bongseong Reservoir that I couldn't see from Geumgyejeong. With no tall buildings in sight, the landscape filled with mountains and water allowed me to truly appreciate the beauty of Yeohang-myeon. Although the water wasn’t full due to the dry weather, the scenery remained beautiful.
The water's surface sparkled, and the water quality appeared clean. Bongseong Reservoir was created to supply agricultural water but has been enhanced with surrounding maintenance projects, resulting in the current walking paths and waterfront areas. The total distance of the Bongseong Reservoir trail is about 2.9 km, and it takes approximately one hour to walk the entire loop. Walking along the trail offers a natural forest bathing experience.
Could this be the paradise of Murung? As I ventured further, I came across a sign for 'Yeohang Murungdo' and a special area unique to Bongseong Reservoir.
This area features various wooden artworks made from trees, inspired by the history and culture of Hamann and Arakaya. Each piece is intriguing to examine for its unique shapes and expressions.
Displayed are works such as Princess Ara dreaming of Arakaya's revival, pottery with flame patterns, and house-shaped pottery. The craftsmanship that showcases the form and grain of the wood is impressive, making me pause briefly to admire them during my walk.
This path also connects to nearby villages. Below, you can see parking spaces and village scenery. If you plan to visit as a group, this parking area seems much more convenient.
Using the intake tower in the photos as a reference point, anyone can enjoy a light stroll without any pressure. The beautiful scenery where Yeohang Mountain meets the open reservoir is truly a picturesque spot, so if you're planning a trip to Hamann, I highly recommend stopping by and taking a leisurely walk.
