In the fast-paced flow of daily life, have you ever paused to reflect on yourself?

As we go through busy days, we often realize that our minds are weary even before our bodies are.

Recently, wellness travel, which allows both body and mind to rest rather than just visiting tourist spots, has gained much attention.

Today, I would like to introduce the Mungyeong World Meditation Village, a certified wellness tourism site in Gyeongsangbuk-do.

Located near Bongamsa, one of Korea's representative meditation temples, this village offers a unique space where anyone, regardless of religion, can comfortably reflect on themselves.

Surrounded by lush forests and clear valleys, the fresh air here provides a tranquility that is hard to find in the city.

As soon as you step out of the car, all you hear are the sounds of birds and flowing water, instantly bringing peace to your mind.

The Welcome Center currently plays various roles, including operating K-Meditation programs, supporting international meditation programs, and providing education and information.

From September 7 to 9, a two-night, three-day silent meditation retreat will take place.

The architecture, which modernly reinterprets the beauty of traditional temples, harmonizes with nature, making every photo feel like a work of art.

The Welcome Center is equipped with a bookstore, tea room, conference room, restaurant, and souvenir shop, ensuring visitors can stay comfortably.

For those new to meditation, the guidance is well-prepared, making it easy to enjoy a quiet moment with a cup of tea.

The heart of the meditation village is the meditation hall, a beautiful space incorporating eco-friendly elements of traditional architecture.

Inside, natural lighting and the warm texture of wood create a harmonious environment where various meditation programs are offered.

During the camp, I experienced Ganhwa Seon meditation, Anban Seon 16 methods meditation, and Jongseong meditation.

One particularly memorable experience was Jongseong meditation, where I focused on my breath while listening to the soothing sound of the bell resonating from the Zen master.

Participants of various ages, professions, and different religions joined the camp.

Initially, some thought meditation was a religious activity, but by the end, most shared that it was a precious time for self-reflection.

Meditation is a process of looking within and finding balance in life, which I was able to experience firsthand.

Some released their stress, while others reflected on their families with gratitude, each facing themselves in their own way.

Accommodations are available in two forms: hotel-style rooms and independent meditation spaces called Kuti.

I stayed in a Kuti, a ondol-style room suitable for 1-2 people, which was spacious and well-maintained.

Spending a day in the quiet forest, I found myself looking at nature more than my phone, a rare experience.

Around the meditation village flows a clear valley.

During the camp, I dipped my feet in the cool water of the valley, which lightened my body and mind.

The meals provided during the meditation program are temple food, prepared with minimal artificial seasoning, allowing the natural flavors of seasonal ingredients to shine through.

Taking a moment to slow down, breathe quietly, and focus on oneself can make a significant difference in one's mindset.

The Mungyeong World Meditation Village is a place where anyone, regardless of religion, can come to rest at their own pace.

How about embarking on a journey of self-reflection to Mungyeong?
