Exploring Bangojin Sports Park in Ulsan

Hello.
This is Choi Jung-won from the Ulsan Metropolitan City Blog Reporter Group.
Bangojin Sports Park, operated by Mipo Sports Center, is a place I used to visit often for its wisteria flower attractions.
It is also well-known among dog owners, as it features the Bonghwa Dog Playground where you can spend time with your pets.
The walking paths are well-shaded, making it a pleasant place to stroll even during the hot summer months.
Let me introduce it in detail!
Bangojin Sports Park Facilities
The park is mainly divided into two soccer fields. For those using the sports center, there are exercise machines available for light workouts.
In addition to a dedicated parking lot, there is ample parking space along the roadside.
The park was originally named Hwajeong-dong Sports Park when it was created.
In preparation for the 2002 World Cup, international standard soccer fields were established, which were later donated to Ulsan.
As a result, the name changed to Bangojin Sports Park, reflecting its public nature.
Next to the soccer fields, there are spacious tennis courts and basketball hoops available for reservation.
Reservations are required for two soccer fields and two tennis courts, and the usage is free of charge.
On weekends, reservations fill up quickly, especially in the evenings.
Most facilities cater to group users, allowing reservations only once a week to prevent monopolization.
There is a penalty for cancellations after making a reservation, and the usage time is limited to two hours.
Only beverages and water are permitted inside the facilities, while food is not allowed.
There are two soccer fields; one was quiet while the other was lively with taxi drivers playing soccer.
I enjoyed watching for a while, finding a cool shaded spot to sit comfortably.
After watching, I walked along the nearby path, which leads to the Ulsan Bridge Observatory, though the staff mentioned it might be challenging to reach by the walking trail!
Bangojin Sports Park is a great place for a refreshing walk.
The forest path leading towards Bangojin was lovely, lined with cherry trees that must look beautiful in spring.
There are also exercise stations along the park, ideal for residents to enjoy walking and exercising.
Despite being close to the city, the dense forest made the air feel fresh throughout my walk.
The Cheonnae Beacon Tower, used during the Joseon Dynasty for military communication, is a well-maintained historical site.
The walking paths are well-maintained and distanced from busy roads, making it a peaceful walking experience.
The sounds of birds added to the pleasant atmosphere.
The shaded walking paths kept it surprisingly cool!
As I walked down, I discovered a dog playground.
The playground is also free to use, open every day except Mondays.
Most dogs, excluding aggressive breeds, can play freely here, with operating hours from 10 AM to 5:30 PM.
The area is divided into sections for large and small dogs to prevent accidents.
There are benches for owners to sit and relax while their dogs play, and drinks are available for purchase.
Staff members are always on-site, making it easy to ask questions.
In conclusion, I shared my experience exploring Bangojin Sports Park and walking along the trails.
Even though the weather is hot, staying indoors can harm your health. With tennis and soccer facilities available, it’s a great place to enjoy outdoor activities. Don’t miss visiting Bangojin Sports Park!
Thank you.
