Upon entering the fourth-floor gallery, visitors are greeted by the artist's warm and lively characters. This exhibition stands out not only for its flat illustrations but also for how it expands the artist's world throughout the entire space.
The artworks on the walls are layered with paper, creating a charming yet delicate three-dimensional effect. Everyday hygiene products like sinks, lotion, soap, and toothpaste, as well as delightful food items like ingredients and soup, are expressed through the artist's unique paper texture and drawing style, evoking a sense of nostalgia.
Each piece, with its endearing expressions and colors, invites visitors to take their time and appreciate the details. Experiencing the actual texture and three-dimensional details of paper art, which is often viewed digitally, is truly enjoyable.
A massive triangular yellow wall features a collaborative space where visitors can stick their own drawings and messages, creating a giant collective artwork that showcases the touch of numerous attendees.
In the final area, traditional Korean patterns are displayed alongside a cherry blossom backdrop and a three-dimensional stand made of paper featuring a hanbok. There is also a unique photo spot where children can try on hanbok and take pictures.
This exhibition goes beyond mere visual observation, allowing visitors to feel the texture of the paper and engage with the elements through sound and touch. It is thoughtfully designed for people of all ages to immerse themselves in the experience.
The Paper Pepper exhibition at the Jangsaengpo Cultural Warehouse showcases how ordinary paper can be transformed into diverse and moving works of art through the artist's delicate touch.
