As the weather gets colder, venturing far can feel a bit daunting, yet staying home can sometimes feel stifling. During such times, I often think of taking a light walk by the sea.

Although the wind was chilly, I headed to Jeongja Port in Ulsan to experience the unique cool atmosphere of the winter sea on a clear day.

On the day of my visit, the wind was quite strong, but the sunshine was so pleasant that I felt refreshed despite the cold weather. The name 'Jeongja' is said to have originated from a pavilion that once stood in the village, surrounded by 24 zelkova trees.

This port has long been a gathering place for people to rest, and that atmosphere still lingers today.

Jeongja Port is known as a region where whales migrated since prehistoric times. In the past, it served as a base for whaling, and now it stands as a symbolic space coexisting with these magnificent creatures.

During my walk along the Ulsan sea, I could see the northern breakwater with the Red Ghost Whale Lighthouse and the southern breakwater with the White Ghost Whale Lighthouse. These two lighthouses are iconic symbols of Jeongja Port and are well-known photo spots.

One of the biggest attractions here is the seaside walking path. The well-maintained paths make it easy to walk, and you can stroll alongside the sea without feeling overwhelmed, making it perfect for a leisurely walk.

During winter, the area is relatively quiet, which is great for taking photos. If you're looking to escape the hustle and bustle, I highly recommend the Ulsan sea walking course. The sea appears richer in color during winter, allowing you to fully appreciate its unique atmosphere.

Jeongja Port is located in Jeongja-dong, Buk-gu, Ulsan, and has a well-established live fish market, making it convenient to enjoy a meal after your stroll.

Seafood like flounder, octopus, and snow crab are famous here, and you can buy them and enjoy a meal at a nearby restaurant, making it a perfect way to warm up after a winter sea outing.

Walking the entire seaside path takes about 40 minutes. The route starts from Jeongja Port, following the breakwater path to the Ghost Whale Lighthouse.

This experience is more about leisurely walking than exercising. You don't have to walk quickly, and it's a great course to enjoy during winter without any strain, making it ideal for a quick mood boost by the sea.

Jeongja Port has clear waters and is rich in fish, so I frequently spotted anglers during my walk. Many were quietly fishing along the breakwater, adding to the lively atmosphere of the port.

While walking, I enjoyed the sea views and the sight of fishermen relaxing, which kept the experience engaging and enjoyable.

Just grab a thick coat and take a slow stroll while feeling the sea breeze; even a short time spent here can be refreshing. I recommend visiting Jeongja Port and the Ghost Whale Lighthouse for a delightful winter sea walk. You'll likely find it even more satisfying than you expect.
