The 2026 Ulsan Drone Festival was held at Jangcheongjeong in Ulsan, showcasing the city's drone industry through a festive atmosphere.
This festival allowed attendees to enjoy cutting-edge drone technology alongside the natural beauty of Jangcheongjeong.
Additionally, the Ulsan Mountain Film Festival was taking place nearby, offering a delightful combination of film screenings and drone shows.
I arrived during the day, explored the experience booths, and stayed for the evening performances and the spectacular drone show, which was truly impressive.
The festival took place on Saturday, September 19, at the Jangcheongjeong Multipurpose Plaza.

The experience booths closed at 6 PM, while the flea market remained open until 9 PM. I found that exploring the flea market while waiting for the performances was perfectly timed.
The parking lot was conveniently located near the event venue. When I visited, there were still available spots, but as the drone show approached, the lot quickly filled up.
Fortunately, there were many empty lots around Jangcheongjeong, making parking manageable without much hassle.
While many people know Jangcheongjeong, not everyone is familiar with the Jangcheongjeong Multipurpose Plaza. The road leading to it is quite accessible.
In spring, the area was filled with blooming cherry blossoms, bringing joy to many citizens, and now it was gradually transforming into a beautiful autumn landscape.
The Jangcheongjeong area is stunning not only during cherry blossom season but also when the autumn foliage turns vibrant. I recommend taking a stroll along the cherry blossom path when fall arrives.
This year's drone festival featured both paper pamphlets and mobile QR pamphlets. A large information board at the entrance displayed the venue layout, performers, and program timings, with two QR codes below—one for a satisfaction survey and the other for the mobile pamphlet.
Scanning the QR code with a smartphone allowed for easy access to program details, eliminating the need for paper handouts and reducing waste.
Upon entering the plaza, the arrival of autumn was palpable. Although the day was somewhat cloudy, it made for a comfortable experience without harsh sunlight.
Tables were set up throughout the plaza, making it easy to enjoy food while seated. Many children were seen riding scooters, adding to the lively atmosphere.
Aside from the festival, a weekend stroll along the cherry blossom path with children would be delightful.
The experience programs included drone piloting, AI robot experiences, various crafting activities, and a disaster safety experience center.
The booths featured activities like creating wooden nameplates, building personal gardens, taking chroma-key photos with Ulsan's scenery, popping balloons with drones, playing drone basketball, and navigating drone obstacle courses.
One of the highlights was the robot café, where a robotic arm prepared drinks upon ordering through a kiosk, allowing spectators to watch the process through glass. There was also a robot cotton candy machine that entertained children as they watched the candy being made.
The drone exhibit showcased advanced drone models linked to Ulsan's drone industry, providing insight into the current state of drone technology in the region.
Among the displays, a logistics delivery drone caught my attention, featuring logos from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, KIAST, and Ulsan. As someone with a drone license, I was impressed by the size of these industrial drones.
The festival's highlight was the 1,300 drone light show, which began at 8:30 PM, transforming the night sky into a spectacular display. The scale was immense, with ever-changing visuals that captivated the audience.
The festival not only provided entertainment but also showcased Ulsan's commitment to becoming a hub for the drone industry.
Overall, the festival was a wonderful blend of natural beauty and technological innovation, making it a perfect outing for families and friends.
