Myung Yuk Cheongju Gyeonggang Branch: A Premium Korean BBQ Experience Near Cheongju Terminal

The other night, I met a friend near Cheongju Terminal after a long time. We were looking for a good Korean BBQ place in the area, and one spot caught our eye: Myung Yuk Cheongju Gyeonggang Branch, a well-known restaurant in Gyeonggang-dong, Cheongju.
Since the terminal area is usually bustling with noisy restaurants, it's not easy to find a place where you can quietly chat and enjoy your BBQ. However, this place stood out from the outside. I was exhausted after work, but the luxurious and calm interior made me feel refreshed.
One of the main reasons this place is famous is its 'Grilling System,' where the staff grills the meat for you. They cook the meat to the perfect doneness, so you can just sit back, relax, and talk while they prepare a delicious piece of BBQ for you. This convenience is what makes Myung Yuk so appealing.
The aged pork belly I had that day was one of the best I've ever tasted. The outside was crispy, the inside was juicy, and the moment the flavors exploded in my mouth, I understood why this place is so popular in Gyeonggang-dong, Cheongju.
So, today, I'm going to share my honest review of Myung Yuk Cheongju Gyeonggang Branch.
1. Location and Exterior
Myung Yuk Cheongju Gyeonggang Branch is about a 7-minute walk from Cheongju Terminal. If you walk a bit from the main street across from the terminal towards Seohyeonjungro 36beon-gil, you'll see a modern building. That's Myung Yuk.
There's plenty of parking space in front of the restaurant, and they said parking is also allowed on the main street after 6 PM. The convenient parking makes it easy to visit with family.
The exterior is clean and simple. The black sign with subtle lighting gives it a luxurious feel. The warm and tidy interior visible through the glass windows gave me confidence that I had made the right choice.
2. Interior Atmosphere
As soon as you open the door, you'll notice the quiet and calm atmosphere. Unlike typical noisy and smoky Korean BBQ places, this restaurant has a luxurious feel like a high-end restaurant, thanks to its soft lighting and wood interior.
The tables are spaced far apart, so you can enjoy your meal without worrying about other people. The smell of BBQ doesn't stick to your clothes, so you won't feel unpleasant after your meal. It's the perfect atmosphere for a date or a family dinner.
The staff were friendly and welcoming, so I didn't feel awkward even though it was my first visit. In particular, the staff in charge of grilling carefully checked the meat at each stage, so I could enjoy it deliciously.
3. Menu and Prices
On this day, I ordered the Premium Aged Pork Belly (14,000 won per serving) and the Premium Pork Cheek (15,000 won per serving). The prices were reasonable compared to other restaurants in Gyeonggang-dong, Cheongju, which I appreciated.
Looking at the menu, it mainly consists of aged meat, and each cut has a different aging method. Myung Yuk ages its meat for over 60 hours using a cross-aging technique to enhance the natural flavor of the meat. After taking a bite, I understood why.
The side dishes were also neatly presented. From fresh vegetables and mustard leaf kimchi to water kimchi and soybean paste stew, everything was clean and perfectly seasoned to complement the taste of the meat.
4. Taste and Dining Experience
The real charm of this place is the grilling system. Since they grill the meat for you, it doesn't burn or become tough, and the taste is always consistent.
The sizzling sound and savory smell when they start grilling the meat, and the sight of the thick pork belly turning golden brown, were visually satisfying.
The outside was crispy, and the inside was juicy, with a chewy texture that was amazing. Thanks to the aging process, there was no unpleasant smell, and the tender, melting texture was exceptional.
The pork cheek was also different from the pork belly. The texture was distinct, and the right amount of fat made it rich and savory. It was delicious with salt or wrapped in pickled 명이나물 (Myongyi leaves).
My girlfriend kept saying, "It's so delicious!" Since they grill the meat for us, we didn't have to do anything, and the meat was perfectly cooked. Throughout the meal, I kept thinking, 'I should bring my parents here next time.'
5. Myung Yuk: Perfect Meat and Atmosphere
As I was leaving, I couldn't help but think, 'I really want to come back here.' Myung Yuk Cheongju Gyeonggang Branch was perfect in terms of meat quality, service, and atmosphere.
The best part was that I could enjoy the meat in the most delicious way thanks to the grilling system. The staff carefully checked the meat at each stage, so I could enjoy it warm and juicy until the end.
If you're looking for a family dining spot near Cheongju Terminal, I don't think there's a better place. It's a great place for dates, company dinners, and family meals. If you're looking for 'the standard of Korean BBQ,' I highly recommend Myung Yuk Cheongju Gyeonggang Branch.
