After visiting Jeju several times, I’ve come to realize that my travel preferences have changed. Initially, I focused on famous spots, but with each visit, I started seeking out places with better quality meat rather than just those with long lines. I found a great black pork restaurant in Jeju that I’d like to recommend.

This time, I searched for restaurants near my accommodation in Nohyeong, particularly those close to the airport. On the last day, location becomes crucial as you need to consider travel time.

Yangdaegam has a comfortable and unpretentious atmosphere, unlike many touristy restaurants that are overly decorated. Such places often turn out to be surprisingly good.

Upon entering, I was pleasantly surprised by the ambiance. The air was fresh, and despite being a meat restaurant, it didn’t feel cramped at all, likely due to a well-maintained ventilation system.

As I settled in and looked at the menu, the black pork set caught my eye, featuring a mix of belly, neck, and rib cuts. It’s a great combination that allows you to try various parts at once.

While waiting, the side dishes started to arrive. The sweet pumpkin salad was a delightful start, with its soft sweetness preparing my palate.

The water kimchi was refreshing and paired well with the meat, making it a perfect appetizer. As a fan of lettuce wraps, I requested multiple refills of the fresh vegetables, which I found quite satisfying.

The pickled radish had a sweet and salty flavor that developed with each bite. I thought the balance of the side dishes was quite good.

The seasoned garlic had a mild saltiness that complemented the meat well, and the green onion salad was seasoned just right, not overpowering the meat's flavor.

After a short wait, the much-anticipated black pork set arrived. Seeing the quality of the meat on the cutting board heightened my expectations.

The belly had clearly visible layers of fat, and the neck meat was evenly cut. The rib meat glistened enticingly.

When the meat hit the grill, a savory aroma filled the air. As the fat slowly melted, the surface turned golden brown, creating one of the most exciting moments in a meat restaurant.

Being grilled over charcoal intensified the flavor, and the smoke was mild enough to enhance the meat's aroma.

The staff expertly flipped the meat at the right time and cut it into bite-sized pieces. This service was quite convenient, especially when you don’t want to worry about cooking while traveling.

I tried a well-cooked piece of meat dipped in salt. The exterior was slightly crispy while the inside remained juicy. The moment I bit into it, the rich flavors burst forth, and it was indulgent without being overwhelming.

The neck meat was light yet flavorful, with a pleasant nuttiness that grew with each bite. The belly had a delightful chewy texture, and as the fat melted, the richness intensified.

The rib meat offered a different experience, being exceptionally tender and addictive. Each cut had its unique flavor, making it easy to compare while eating.

After enjoying a fair amount of meat, I became curious about the assorted internal organs listed on the menu, so I ordered a set that included special beef, large intestines, and tripe.

As they grilled, the smoky flavor filled the air, and there was hardly any off-putting odor, which was a relief. The chewy texture and savory taste were delightful.

When paired with the accompanying sauce, the umami flavors really came alive, making it a satisfying dish for organ meat lovers.

Don’t forget to try the cold noodles with seaweed, which were crispy and refreshing.

I also ordered a soybean paste stew with brisket and tofu, which had a rich broth, perfect for pairing with rice after the meat.

If you’re considering dining in Nohyeong, I highly recommend Yangdaegam for Jeju black pork. It’s conveniently close to the airport, making it an excellent choice for your last meal on the island, and the quality of the meat was top-notch.
