Delicious Dining in Pocheon

Last weekend, I went for a drive to Pocheon with friends and visited a local restaurant recommended by locals. We enjoyed marinated and fresh ribs along with traditional Korean dishes in a serene Hanok setting.
1. Original Local Moving Galbi
Address: 1182 Hwadong-ro, Ildong-myeon, Pocheon, Gyeonggi-do
Operating Hours: Weekdays 10:30 AM - 9:00 PM
Menu: Pocheon Moving Galbi 43,000 KRW
The meat restaurant we visited was just a 5-minute walk from Ildong Bus Terminal, easily spotted from afar due to its large sign on the main road.
There was a dedicated parking lot at the front, making it convenient to park. The operating hours were clearly displayed, opening daily at 10:30 AM.
Before entering, I noticed a waiting area. A nearby artificial lake kept us entertained while we waited.
Inside, I spotted signatures from famous celebrities, adding an element of fun as we searched for familiar names.
The cozy wooden decor and comfortable table spacing made it a great place to bring my parents.
After being seated, we scanned the menu. The restaurant offered various rib options, and since we love trying different flavors, we ordered both fresh and marinated ribs.
Within five minutes, our basic table setting was quickly arranged. I appreciated that the plates and cutlery were provided according to our number.
The fresh ribs looked visually appealing, with clear marbling, making my mouth water.
Next, the jellyfish salad was served, conveniently dressed for easy eating.
We then tried the pickled lettuce. Unlike other side dishes, just one piece was surprisingly tangy.
Additionally, the lettuce was homegrown, showcasing its freshness.
We also enjoyed a salmon salad piled high with various vegetables and salmon sashimi, which showcased the generosity of this Pocheon gem.
After satisfying our initial hunger, it was time to taste the fresh ribs. The staff kindly advised not to overcook them to avoid dryness.
Initially, I sampled just the lean meat. They only serve top-quality beef, and it was incredibly tender, confirming the restaurant's reputation.
We made wraps with the meat, garlic, and dipping sauce, adding a delightful touch.
Next, we tackled the marinated ribs, which are also made in-house.
I paired the first bite with onion sauce and was relieved that the flavor was light and not greasy, appealing to my taste.
The highlight for me was the wrap with rice, meat, onion, and garlic, which I photographed before enjoying.
Curious about the seasoned deodeok, I tried it and was immediately greeted by its spicy aroma, bringing a smile to my face.
Taking a piece, I found it crunchy and fresh, validating my visit to this restaurant.
We also indulged in chili shrimp, which was perfect. The combination of savory shrimp and spicy chili was so delicious that I wished I could take some home.
To finish, we had sushi. It was freshly made, ensuring it was never dry while eating.
I quickly devoured the octopus sushi, and the balance of rice and topping was exceptional, making it hard to stop eating even when full.
