Exploring the Charming Pho Restaurant 'Romnu' in Seongsu-dong

Located in the alleys of Seongsu-dong, 'Romnu' is a famous pho restaurant known for its short operating hours.
Seongsu-dong is a neighborhood that always surprises me with new spots each time I visit. It's filled with charming cafes, unique shops, and hidden eateries in every corner.
This time, a close friend who knows the area well took me to 'Romnu' pho, a place I had been curious about.
However, be aware that this is not a place you can visit anytime; their operating hours are quite limited!
Romnu Pho Information:
'Romnu' is nestled between the alleys of Seongsu-dong.
Operating Hours: Monday to Saturday, 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
Make sure to check the operating hours before your visit!
It's a bit closer to Ttukseom Station. I parked nearby at my friend's house, but I was a bit disappointed that there weren't many parking options.
The exterior welcomes you with red bricks, making it stand out from afar.
Although 'Romnu' is not large, it has a quaint charm.
The ambiance captures the essence of Seongsu-dong. It's not flashy, but the simple and cozy atmosphere is quite appealing.
Upon entering, the interior also exudes a snug vibe.
With not many tables, it feels even quieter and more comfortable, making it a great spot for solo dining or chatting with friends. However, since seating is limited, it's best to time your visit well.
Menu Items:
This time, I ordered:
✔ Mixed Pho (Bun Thit Nuong) - Highly recommended!
From the very first glance, it looked beautiful. Fresh vegetables, rice noodles, and generous toppings create an inviting dish. As I mixed it, the aroma was delightful. The sweet and sour sauce infused into the noodles awakened my taste buds.
It was light and refreshing, making it hard to stop eating.
The crunchiness of the vegetables paired perfectly with the chewy noodles.
Now I understand why so many people recommend the mixed pho at 'Romnu'.
✔ Brisket Pho:
This was the familiar style of pho we all know. The rich broth and tender brisket made for a comforting dish. The broth was clean and not overwhelming, with the noodles having a nice bounce. It's a flavor that anyone can enjoy, making it a great choice for first-time visitors to Seongsu-dong.
✔ Spring Rolls (2 pcs):
This dish pairs wonderfully with the mixed pho. The outside was crispy, while the inside remained moist. The nutty flavor burst forth with each bite, complementing the tangy taste of the mixed pho.
✔ Corn Salad:
This was surprisingly impressive. The crunchy texture combined with sweetness, sourness, and umami was delightful. The sweetness of the corn intensified with every bite, and the sauce added to the flavor, making it hard to resist.
Overall Impression:
✔ Confirm operating hours before visiting.
✔ Charming red brick exterior.
✔ Cozy and quiet interior.
✔ Highly recommend the mixed pho.
✔ Spring rolls are a must-order.
✔ The corn salad is a unique treat.
✔ Full of Seongsu-dong's charm.
In my opinion, if you're looking for a unique pho experience in Seongsu-dong, this is a place I'd highly recommend. Especially the mixed pho was so satisfying that I still think about it.
If I visit Seongsu-dong again, I would love to return to 'Romnu' Pho.
It was an attractive pho restaurant in Seongsu-dong, worth the short operating hours.
