A Cozy Evening in Sokcho with My Daughter_01

Enjoyed a lovely date with my daughter in Sokcho!

We had a delightful dinner at Jeongdonine Hwaejjangpocha, a cozy pub located in the alley of Jodyang-dong near Home Marina Hotel. Today, I want to share my experience at this budget-friendly pub.

Initially, I didn't have high expectations for a pub in Jodyang-dong, but every dish that came out amazed us. Not only was the taste exceptional, but the presentation was also impressive, leaving us truly touched.

Moreover, it perfectly matched my little daughter's taste as she loves sashimi, making it an excellent spot to enjoy the night in Sokcho over a drink. Above all, it was conveniently close to our accommodation, allowing us to dress casually and enjoy our meal.

The owner, who has a great touch in the kitchen, prepared dishes that hit the spot. The stir-fried octopus was particularly exceptional! It was so delicious that mixing it with noodles was a fantastic idea.

Located in Sokcho's street of food stalls, this place was one of many restaurants lined up along the road. I used Naver Maps to find it during dinner time, and it was just a 5-minute walk from our accommodation. I was relieved to find a place within walking distance, especially since I was looking forward to having a drink with my daughter.

Parking is available right at the restaurant entrance. The alley had quite a few parked cars, but there was ample parking space just a block away from the main road.

Upon entering the restaurant, the aquarium filled with various seafood and today's sashimi selections caught my eye. The aquarium was well-maintained and clean.

Initially, I couldn't take pictures as many diners were enjoying their meals. After finishing our dinner, I captured the interior. Upon entering, you see table seating, and there are traditional seating arrangements further inside. The heated floor made the seating very comfortable.

We looked at the menu and placed our orders. They offer takeout, which is popular among nearby accommodations. Wanting to try a variety, we ordered a sashimi platter, stir-fried squid, and squid sausage, which is a must-try in Sokcho. The prices were reasonable, which is a relief compared to many tourist spots.

While waiting for our food, my daughter, who recently started a diet, jokingly complained about how she could diet with all this delicious food. I told her to enjoy today and start her diet tomorrow!

The side dishes served were simple, consisting of four types of banchan, seaweed soup, sauce, and fresh chili, garlic, and wasabi! The seaweed soup had a rich and deep flavor that was surprisingly good. At first, I was worried about its appearance, but it turned out to be delicious.

The dipping sauce complemented the sashimi well. My daughter prefers dipping in thick sauce rather than the usual vinegar sauce, and she enjoyed it.

When the sashimi platter arrived, I felt lucky as it contained our favorite types of fish. The texture was chewy, and the subtle sweetness was delightful.

The freshly fried squid sausage was delicious on its own and even better when dipped in the sauce. The aroma bursting in my mouth was delightful.

As I mentioned earlier, the stir-fried octopus was genuinely delicious. The seasoning was great, and the overall harmony of flavors was outstanding. Eating it with thin noodles was simply perfect.

Spending the evening at Sokcho's food stall street with my daughter, enjoying our favorite foods and sharing drinks, was truly a healing experience during our trip.

The warmth and emotions shared while enjoying delicious food were incredibly touching. The charm of this place lies not only in the taste but also in the ambiance of the food stall, where you can enjoy hearty meals at affordable prices.

I highly recommend spending a night filled with emotions at Jeongdonine Hwaejjangpocha, a pub in Jodyang-dong, Sokcho.
