Hello!

September is the 'Month of Reading'.

In Goyang City, the libraries are hosting various programs throughout this month, allowing citizens to enjoy books in diverse ways.

From reading and writing activities to crafting, cooking, art, performances, and ecological experiences, there is something for everyone!

Join us in celebrating the joy of reading this September at Goyang City's 'Month of Reading' events!

There are programs available for everyone, from children to adults, and you can participate freely without prior registration by simply visiting the library.

Try creating your own sentences by picking words!

First, I visited the children's materials room on the first floor.

Here, a participatory event called 'Words Become Sentences' was taking place.

Participants randomly pick words from a box and use them to create their own sentences.

It was quite challenging to connect different words into a single sentence!

As this is a children's area, comparing sentences with kids using the same words would be a fun activity.

'Words Become Sentences' is available not only at Haengsin Library but also at 18 public libraries across Goyang City.

Another program, 'A Piece of a Book', invites participants to illustrate memorable scenes from books and create Shrinkles bookmarks.

While at the library, I asked a child to draw on a small piece of material, and it seemed like a wonderful way for children to connect with books.

Once the drawings are complete, participants can take them home and bake them in an oven or air fryer to create their own bookmarks!

'A Piece of a Book' is available at various children's libraries in the area.

In the program 'Find the Hidden Sentence on Page 99', participants are encouraged to open their current book to page 99 and write down the sentence from the ninth line.

This activity turned out to be a treasure hunt of sorts, as I discovered a sentence I would have otherwise overlooked.

After participating, you can scan the QR code to submit a photo of your handwritten sentence and receive double the borrowing privileges!

With various programs available throughout September, including family and adult activities, there’s something for everyone. Just be sure to check in advance whether pre-registration is required for specific events.

Participating in the 'Month of Reading' at the Goyang City libraries has been a delightful experience, offering diverse ways to enjoy books.

As the cool breeze of September begins, I highly recommend joining the reading events at your nearest Goyang City library!
