Goyang Changnyeong Stream Canola Flower Festival 2026

The Goyang Changnyeong Stream Canola Flower Festival will be held from May 16 to May 17, 2026.
As of May 10, the blooming rate is about 20%, and it is expected that visitors will be able to walk along the canola flower paths until the end of May.
The Changnyeong Stream, originating from the foothills of Bukhansan Mountain, flows through Gangmae-dong and Shindo-dong in Deogyang-gu.
This scenic area becomes popular twice a year, in spring and autumn, with the Canola Flower Festival in spring and the Cosmos Festival in autumn.
This year, the Goyang Canola Flower Festival will take place over two days, from May 16 to 17.
Before the festival, I had the chance to enjoy the canola flowers along Changnyeong Stream.
Under the bridge connecting to the freeway, a parking lot has been established, marking the start of the 'Canola Flower Scenic Area.'
On the embankment, a tree-lined path is lush, and below, a 1 km stretch of 27,000 square meters of canola fields has been created.
The 'Changnyeong Stream Canola Flower Festival' began in 2023 and will be held every May.
The scenic area extends 500 meters from the parking lot to the central plaza where the festival events will take place, reaching 1 km to the Gangmae Stone Bridge.
During my visit on May 10, the blooming rate was about 10-20%. More flowers were visible from the parking lot to the central plaza, while the blooming rate near the Gangmae Stone Bridge was around 5%.
Although the festival lasts for two days, the food stalls and local food market have already started and will continue until the end of May when the flowers begin to wilt.
Despite the low blooming rate, I was assured that the canola flowers bloom rapidly, and by the time of the festival, a more vibrant landscape is expected.
The canola flowers, which are biennial plants, bloom yellow in May, and their seeds are often used for oil, while the leaves are used as wrapping vegetables.
Recently, canola has been cultivated as a scenic crop that creates waves of yellow flowers. The canola plants along Changnyeong Stream are about knee-high and are just beginning to bloom.
The 'Canola Flower Scenic Area' follows the long and wide riverside between the embankment and Changnyeong Stream.
There are two clusters with paved walking paths in the center. Visitors can enjoy the canola flowers along the riverside, under the tree-lined paths, and through the central walkway.
The final destination of the Canola Flower Scenic Area is the 'Gangmae Stone Bridge,' a cultural heritage site in Gyeonggi-do that historically connected Goyang and Hanyang.
This ancient stone bridge is the only one remaining in Goyang City and is well-preserved.
After a stroll through the canola fields, I arrived at the central plaza where the main events of the festival will take place on May 16 and 17.
Bicycle rentals are available for 15,000 won, along with food stalls and a small performance stage.
Enjoy the local produce and spring flowers in May!
Thank you.
