As the chilly winds of November begin to blow, one thing comes to mind: Kimjang!

The tradition of making kimchi as a family to prepare for winter is one of our country's precious customs.

In celebration of the upcoming Kimjang season, today, I would like to introduce a travel destination in Seoul where you can experience the history and culture of kimchi in a unique way.

From exhibitions about kimchi to hands-on experience programs and places to taste various types of kimchi, let’s embark on a journey to the Museum Kimchikan located in Insadong, Seoul!

The Museum Kimchikan is a space where you can encounter everything about kimchi. It features exhibitions using traditional earthenware that was used for storing kimchi and various types of earthenware lids.

The museum spans from the 4th to the 6th floors of the Insadong Maru building, showcasing the history and varieties of kimchi through exhibitions and experiences. Particularly, it is a great place to visit even in chilly weather since most of the exhibitions are indoors.

On the 4th floor, you will find spaces dedicated to the history and culture of kimchi.

Start your visit at the Kimchi Madang on the 4th floor, where you can learn about the history of kimchi and its evolution over time through interactive exhibits.

The central area of the Kimchi Madang features a digital experience where visitors can mix cabbage and seasoning, allowing you to learn about the kimchi-making process in a fun way.

As you move to the Kimchi Sarangbang, you will encounter the kimchi culture of our ancestors through the appearance of an old kitchen.

On the 5th floor, you will discover a diverse world of kimchi that you never knew existed!

The Kimchi Study Room provides insights into the different methods of making kimchi across various regions of Korea through videos.

On the 6th floor, the Kimjang Maru offers hands-on experience programs where you can make your own kimchi!

From children's kimchi schools to programs tailored for young adults and foreigners, there are various kimchi experiences available for all ages.

During this November's Kimjang season, discover the diverse charms of Korean kimchi with your family and friends at the Museum Kimchikan!
