The 7th Geochang Arimia Flower Festival: A Celebration of Nature and History

We visited the spring festival venue where the **'7th Geochang Arimia Flower Festival'** is being held. Upon entering the venue, the first thing that caught my eye was the Arimia *Millennium Clock.
Symbolizing the thousand years that Geochang has traversed, time may be invisible, but its flow can be felt through the flowers and sculptures.
The theme of this year's Arimia Flower Festival is *“A Thousand Years of Arim Village, Shaped by Moon, Light, and Flowers!”* As the theme suggests, the festival venue was filled with the long history, natural beauty, and the vitality and warmth conveyed by flowers that Geochang has embraced.
The expression 'A Thousand Years of Arim Village' evoked thoughts of Geochang's deep time and tradition, while the words 'Moon, Light, and Flowers' created a subtle yet vibrant image of spring.
Arimia is a name that combines the old name of Geochang, 'Arim', with the character for beauty, '美', encapsulating the unique beauty of Geochang.
Perhaps that's why this festival felt more like a thematic flower festival that unraveled the stories of Geochang's history, culture, nature, and people, rather than just an event to display and appreciate flowers.
Throughout the venue, various artworks utilizing fresh flowers were exhibited, each carrying its own symbolism and story, making it enjoyable to explore at a leisurely pace.
The exhibit *'Earthenware – The Beginning of Geochang Gaya Civilization'* reminded us of Geochang's historical roots. It was refreshing to encounter the material of earthenware amidst the vibrant flower festival.
The *Book Exhibition of Geochang as an Educational City* also left a lasting impression. The arrangement centered around books showcased Geochang's identity as an educational city. The combination of books and flowers appeared to create a harmonious scene of knowledge and beauty.
As we ventured deeper into the venue, *Arim Forest 1 felt like a green space that embraced the memories and dreams of Geochang. The blend of bamboo and flowers provided a sense of comfort, as if walking through a forest.
Particularly, *Arim Forest 2 – Inner Journey featured an impressive 'Mirror Forest' composed of birch trees and mirror columns. The reflections of flowers, light, and the visitors created a unique atmosphere.
This festival offered not only exhibitions but also hands-on flower arrangement experiences, allowing visitors to touch and decorate flowers to create their own unique pieces. Experiencing flowers through touch added another layer of enjoyment to simply admiring them visually.
Additionally, there was a space for purchasing beautiful flower pots, enabling visitors to take home the spring atmosphere and memories felt at the festival. Even a small pot seemed to carry the memories of the festival, attracting many visitors.
The 7th Geochang Arimia Flower Festival was a rich celebration that integrated Geochang's thousand-year history, nature, education, culture, and experience, transcending the mere appreciation of flowers.
As the theme suggests, *“A Thousand Years of Arim Village, Shaped by Moon, Light, and Flowers!”*, it was a time that beautifully shaped Geochang's past, present, and future through flowers.
Walking among the vibrant flowers brought joy to the eyes, while following the stories embedded in each artwork warmed the heart. This flower festival encountered in Geochang during spring was a meaningful time that will be remembered for a long time.
In the season when the iris flowers bloom, I enjoyed a happy spring day at the **'7th Geochang Arimia Flower Festival'**, filled with diverse experiences and performances.
