A Preview of Summer at Mallipo Beach and Observation Deck

The Mallipo Beach and Observation Deck in Taean offers a glimpse of summer.
The sunlight was exceptionally clear.
Although it was still before the official beach opening, the air already hinted at summer.
The sky visible through the car window was high and cloudless,
and the trees along the road to Taean had changed to a deep green.
The sea seems to call out to people slightly ahead of the seasons.
I felt that way upon arriving at Mallipo Beach in Sowon-myeon, Taean.
The breeze coming from the inland was slightly different. There was a faint mix of salt and sea smell in the air. Although there were no visible waves yet, my body sensed that the sea was nearby.
On both sides of the path leading to the beach, restaurants, cafes, and souvenir shops lined up.
Even before the peak summer season, some shops were already open, ready to welcome customers. Tubes, sand toys, and decorations were displayed in front of the stores, and people were slowly walking towards the sea, holding their children's hands.
I followed the flow of people, and suddenly my view opened up at the end of the alley.
The first sight of the Mallipo sea revealed a wide sandy beach and the calm West Sea.
Although the beach was not officially open yet, it was already bustling with many people.
Children were playing in the sand while their parents took photos nearby. Some people were walking barefoot along the water's edge, while others stared at the sea for a long time, listening to the sound of the waves.
On one side of the beach stood the "Mallipo Love" monument.
This song, written by Ban Ya-wol and composed by Kim Kyo-seong, is known as a representative piece by Park Kyung-won. It is interesting how an old song is remembered alongside a specific place.
For some, Mallipo is a travel destination, while for others, it may be a memory of youth.
The sea remains unchanged, and people visit this place carrying their memories.
I began to understand why people say that looking at the sea brings peace to the heart. Complex thoughts of daily life faded away, leaving only the simple and vast landscape before me.
The waves may be silent, but they strangely help organize many thoughts.
And suddenly, I thought about how there are places nearby where one can find peace without traveling far.
The sea of Mallipo quietly stayed in my memory.
