Recently, I visited the Saenggeo Jincheon Cultural Festival, where I could truly feel the charm of Jincheon amidst the cool autumn breeze.
The festival allowed visitors to enjoy various performances and delicious food while experiencing the essence of autumn.
The Saenggeo Jincheon Cultural Festival took place from October 9 to October 11 along the Baekgokcheon River, lasting for three days.
Parking is available on the lower road, but on weekends or during concerts, it's advisable to use nearby alleys or public parking lots.
As soon as I arrived at the festival, I was greeted by numerous booths selling a variety of food. I visited early on the opening day, and preparations were underway for the festival.
Among the food stalls, there was a lively performance area featuring a traditional Pumba show, adding to the vibrant atmosphere.
Additionally, there were various activities for children, such as goldfish catching experiences, making it a fun place for families.
The Saenggeo Jincheon Cultural Festival is a representative local cultural festival that allows visitors to experience Jincheon's regional culture up close, celebrating its 47th year this year.
Given its long history, the festival was large in scale, with many programs and activities suitable for various generations to enjoy together.
As I ventured further in, I noticed a section dedicated to selling Jincheon’s agricultural specialties.
Visitors could see a wide range of locally produced agricultural products and enjoy performances on a small stage set up for entertainment.
Although many booths were not yet open in the early morning, I could see and purchase Jincheon’s agricultural specialties like cucumbers, melons, and tomatoes.
Upon reaching the main stage area, preparations were in full swing for the Saenggeo Jincheon Folk Art Competition.
At 9 AM, the competition commenced, and despite the early hour, many people were seated on the steps watching the event.
This year’s festival featured performances by various artists, including Park Seo-jin, So Chan-whee, Kim Yong-bin, and Jadu, with fireworks displayed during the opening ceremony.
The Saenggeo Jincheon Cooking Competition allowed us to explore Jincheon’s culinary culture and food offerings.
Representatives from different regions participated, showcasing unique dishes crafted from various ingredients, piquing my curiosity.
The health fair featured a space where visitors could easily access various health-related information and experiences.
Beyond the health fair, food trucks and flea markets were set up, making it a pleasant spot for casual exploration.
In the disaster safety experience area, visitors could learn about safety measures for potential accidents and disasters, such as water safety and fire extinguisher use.
Although the 2026 Saenggeo Jincheon Cultural Festival has concluded, there are still beautiful tourist spots like Baekgokcheon, Nongdari, and Gilsangsa, perfect for enjoying the autumn foliage.
