From October 2nd, Jangam Station on Subway Line 7 will temporarily close for 29 days. This closure is necessary for the comprehensive test operations related to the construction of the Dobongsan-Okjeong metropolitan railway.
To minimize inconvenience for residents using Jangam Station, Gyeonggi Province will operate a free shuttle bus service between Dobongsan Station and Jangam Station during the closure. Subway Line 7 trains will not enter Jangam Station and will only operate up to Dobongsan Station during this period.
Currently, Jangam Station serves as the terminus of Subway Line 7 and operates in a temporary station format within the Dobong Vehicle Depot. Gyeonggi Province plans to demolish the existing Jangam Station and construct a new one within the vehicle depot in line with the Dobongsan-Okjeong metropolitan railway construction project.
During the demolition of the existing station and the construction of the new station, train operations will continue using the temporary Jangam Station set up next to the current station entrance. This requires thorough safety checks of the tracks, signals, and communication facilities before the temporary station opens. The temporary closure is a measure to conduct these test operations and inspections.
To reduce transportation inconvenience caused by the closure, Gyeonggi Province will operate free shuttle buses from October 2nd to 30th. The shuttle buses will depart from the Jangam Station bus stop, pass through the main gate of the Dobong Vehicle Depot, and run to the Dobongsan Station transfer center, with a return shuttle available as well.
The actual operating route can be confirmed in the official guide. The shuttle bus schedule will vary on weekdays and weekends to accommodate transportation demand, and additional staff will be stationed at Dobongsan Station to assist passengers in finding the shuttle bus boarding location.
During the closure, passengers should note that they cannot board or alight from the subway at Jangam Station, so they must use Suaksan Station or Dobongsan Station instead. Free shuttle buses can be utilized to travel from Jangam Station to Dobongsan Station, and passengers traveling to Jangam Station on Line 7 can transfer to the shuttle bus at Dobongsan Station.
However, since the shuttle bus intervals differ between weekdays and weekends, passengers with fixed commuting or school hours should plan their travel with extra time. According to official announcements, no separate support vehicles for individuals with mobility challenges will operate during the closure. Such individuals are advised to use existing mobility assistance services.
Gyeonggi Province will conduct facility inspections and test operations for the opening of the temporary Jangam Station during the closure. From September 21st to 30th, preliminary inspections will be carried out in areas such as tracks, signals, and communications, and on October 2nd, the tracks leading to the temporary station will be connected to the existing tracks.
Following that, from October 24th, facility relocation, joint inspections, and supplementary work will be conducted, and from October 25th to 30th, a trial operation simulating actual service will be conducted to check the train operation system. The plan is to open the temporary Jangam Station on October 31st.
This temporary closure of Jangam Station is linked to the Dobongsan-Okjeong metropolitan railway construction project. The Dobongsan-Okjeong metropolitan railway is a single-track electric railway project connecting Dobongsan Station in Seoul to Jangam Station and Tapseok Station in Uijeongbu, extending a total of 15.1 km to the Gohyeop district in Yangju. The total project cost is 893.5 billion won, and as of late August 2026, the overall progress rate is 62.44%.
After confirming the safety of the temporary Jangam Station, Gyeonggi Province plans to proceed with the demolition of the existing station and the construction of the new one. They will collaborate with the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Transportation Corporation to minimize the construction period and reduce passenger inconvenience through free shuttle bus operations and advance notices.
Residents are encouraged to check the latest transportation information before using Jangam Station.
