Exploring Jeonggwan Central Park: A Community Gem

I recently visited Jeonggwan Central Park (27 Guyeon 3-ro, Jeonggwan-eup).

Jeonggwan Central Park is a representative community park located in the heart of the Jeonggwan New Town.

Its proximity to the Left Gwangcheon stream allows visitors to enjoy river walks along with the park's amenities.

Local residents utilize this park for walking, exercising, and relaxation, and it's pet-friendly.

Notably, there are ongoing projects to transform the park into a multifunctional space that includes flood prevention facilities and parking.

Crossing the Central Bridge and climbing the colorful stairs next to the sign for the 'Left Gwangcheon Garden Ecology Learning Center' leads directly to the park.

The first sight is a lush green lawn that resembles a green carpet, perfect for gatherings during events.

Most festivals held in Jeonggwan take place in this spacious grass park.

In particular, the largest festival, the Jeonggwan Ecological Stream Learning Culture Festival, is held annually.

This year, the 12th edition will take place from October 16 to 18 at Jeonggwan Central Park and the Left Gwangcheon area.

The festival will feature various programs including a Dream Stage, parade, children’s song contest, family walking competition, drawing and writing contests, busking, book concerts, robot competitions, flea markets, and experiential learning in English and science.

The park also has resting areas with benches and gazebos, as well as large traditional swings, which are a bit intimidating but exciting to try with my granddaughter.

Despite the hot weather in September, there are usually many people walking their dogs here, but the lawn was empty during my visit.

The park is equipped with pet hygiene disposal stations.

On September 19 (Saturday), the 3rd Gijang Pet Culture Festival will be held at the Central Park, focusing on the theme of happiness for both people and pets.

The event will run from 9 AM to 6 PM, starting with an opening ceremony at 10 AM, followed by a walking competition with pets.

Gijang's public bicycles are available at the Central Park station, inviting visitors to ride.

The park offers various sports facilities, including workout equipment, gateball, and futsal fields, and the restrooms are well-maintained.

Overall, Jeonggwan Central Park is a valuable space that contributes to the relaxation and daily lives of local residents.
