Today, I would like to introduce you to the Sangju Museum, a place where you can get a glimpse of Sangju's brilliant history and valuable cultural heritage.

The Sangju Museum officially opened on November 2, 2007, to systematically preserve Sangju's cultural heritage and serve as a venue for historical education.
In 2008, a children's experience room was opened, and in 2017, the Agricultural Culture Hall was established, allowing the museum to showcase not only Sangju's history but also its agricultural and folk culture.
From Tuesday to Friday, there are two guided tours at 10:30 AM and 2:00 PM, and on weekends and holidays, three tours at 10:30 AM, 1:30 PM, and 3:00 PM, led by expert volunteers. Visiting during these times will help you understand Sangju's fascinating history more deeply, so be sure to check the schedule.
The Sangju Museum is a municipal museum where you can encounter the cultural heritage of Sangju, known as the 'home of history', all in one place.
Sangju is a historically rich city that was home to ancient kingdoms such as Sabal-guk and Goryeo Gaya, as well as the Silla 9 provinces, Goryeo 8 moks, and the Gyeongsang Provincial Office during the Joseon Dynasty.
At the museum, you can explore Sangju's history and lifestyle from prehistoric times to modern times through artifacts and exhibitions.
In the center of the museum lobby, there is an interactive digital exhibition space featuring an old map of Sangju alongside a modern topographic map. With the phrase "Capturing Old Sangju," visitors can walk over a large display to intuitively experience the terrain and historical changes of Sangju, making it enjoyable for children as well.
The permanent exhibition hall of the Sangju Museum presents a neat chronological display of Sangju's long history from the Unified Silla period to the Goryeo and Joseon periods, and into modern times.
Through digital monitors and panels, major historical events, figures, and cultural characteristics are systematically presented, making it an educational space where you can easily grasp the path Sangju has walked for a thousand years.
Under the reinforced glass floor of the exhibition hall, the actual excavated 'Sangju Byeongseong-dong No. 14 stone coffin tomb' is vividly recreated, allowing visitors to observe the burial practices and artifacts of ancient Sangju residents up close.
