Hello! This is the Ulsan City Hall Blog Reporter Team.

A special festival where Ulsan's industry, history, and culture come together!

It's the 2026 Ulsan Industrial Festival.

This year, the festival took place from October 8 to 11 at the Taehwa River National Garden in the southern district.

I visited the festival briefly on Saturday, October 10, and Sunday, October 11. I was a bit hesitant to go, wondering if it would be too crowded for my child or if I might lose track of them in the hustle and bustle.

However, upon visiting, I found the venue to be larger than expected, preventing people from congregating in one area.

Thanks to this, my child was able to walk around and enjoy various events and experiences. The festival was rich in attractions, from AI caricatures to robot performances, tourist events, and citizen participation activities!

One standout event was the donation initiative by Korea Zinc. Initially, they were giving away keycap gifts, which drew a crowd. However, I soon realized it was linked to the 'Temperature of Love' event that was completed with citizen participation. It felt meaningful to learn about community donation activities while participating in the gift-giving event.

Korea Zinc added significance to the completed Temperature of Love by preparing a donation of 50 million won, which will be delivered through the Ulsan Community Chest for social contribution projects benefiting neighbors and the local community.

I realized that festivals can be a chance to share warm feelings with the community, not just a time for fun. It was great that citizens could naturally participate and share in the meaning of giving.

One of my main concerns when going to the festival with my child was navigating with a stroller. I found that the festival was spacious enough to move around comfortably, without significant inconvenience throughout the visit.

While there were crowded areas for popular performances or AI experience zones, the overall atmosphere felt relatively roomy. The festival also provided accessible facilities, such as restrooms for people with disabilities and nursing rooms, along with stroller and wheelchair rentals.

However, I found it challenging to watch performances comfortably since seating was required, and the aisles were narrow, making it difficult to park the stroller. I think I will bring a folding stroller next time.

One of the events I participated in was the 'Ulsan City Hall TV' YouTube event, where subscribing allowed participation in a roulette event. I spun the roulette and won a blanket and a toy! Others around me also received various prizes like cups and umbrellas.

It was enjoyable to explore the festival, learn about Ulsan tourism, and possibly win prizes, making such on-site events a delightful part of the festival.

Another attraction for children was the keyring vending machine. Encountering these small events while exploring the festival was hard to resist. The anticipation of what keyring would come out added to the fun, and if you got one you liked, it could serve as a small keepsake.

While wandering around, I heard children's cheerful shouts and discovered a balloon magic show! The event showcased balloon art, creating various shapes and distributing finished balloons to the audience. The excitement from the kids and parents was palpable as the balloons transformed into fantastic shapes.

Experiences like watching and waiting for something tangible create special memories for children.

The festival featured not only AI but also programs related to robotics, virtual reality (VR), and 3D printing. There were various experiential programs, including creating storybooks with generative AI, AI caricatures, health experiences, and robot soccer.

One of the most popular attractions among children was the robot dog, which mimicked various behaviors like wagging its tail and showing affection. Watching its movements made it feel almost alive!

The smoothness of the robot's dance performance was impressive, and I recorded a video, though my amazed voice was quite loud! Despite the technical difficulties during the performance due to the large crowd, I hope to see such performances again in the future.

My personal experience with the AI caricature was fascinating! The result captured my freckles and the details of the outfits my child and I wore, showcasing the unique aspects of our appearances. It was a great opportunity to see how AI can be utilized in everyday life.

If you missed the festival or want to relive the performances, search for the full videos of the opening and closing ceremonies on YouTube. Watching the recordings can help you feel the festival's excitement.

The 2026 Ulsan Industrial Festival was a wonderful opportunity to connect with Ulsan's past, present, and future, and I look forward to more enriching experiences that involve citizen participation.
