One weekend, I set out on a trip to Pohang with my friends. It was a journey to explore new flavors beyond familiar places.

We arrived at a nice restaurant near Yeongildae Beach, where we could enjoy a refreshing view of the open sea. I want to share my experience at this local gem, known for its fresh seafood and hearty crab dishes.

1. Location & Address of Minam Pocha

On this day, we visited 'Minam Pocha,' which is located about five minutes by car from Jukdo Market. The area is convenient for walking, with many shops frequented by travelers. A large blue sign was visible from a distance, catching our attention.

The restaurant is right by the beach, allowing us to enjoy our meal with a beautiful view. After dining, we took a leisurely walk along Yeongildae Beach. It operates from 10 AM to 2 AM, making it perfect for early lunches or late-night visits.

Inside, we found a cozy and neatly decorated hall with spacious tables suitable for group gatherings. The cleanliness of the place was impressive.

Outdoor seating was also available, which provided a refreshing atmosphere to enjoy the sea view while dining. The pleasant weather added to the happiness of dining outside.

2. Minam Pocha's Special Set Menu

After sitting down, we carefully examined the menu and chose the 'Minam Pocha Special Set,' which included crab. The diverse offerings were reasonably priced, and the side dishes were plentiful, leaving us pleasantly surprised.

The variety of side dishes was impressive, making us feel good throughout the meal. We enjoyed the delightful dilemma of choosing what to taste first.

The meal began with warm seaweed soup, which had a deep flavor that wrapped around our senses. The fragrant aroma of the warmed seaweed refreshed our palates, feeling like a homemade dish made with care.

Next, we tried the sweet and sour jellyfish salad. The crunchy texture of the jellyfish combined with the tangy mustard sauce was a refreshing treat, perfect for awakening our taste buds before the main course.

The sashimi, prepared fresh on the spot, was a highlight for me. As a specialty of the restaurant, it exceeded my expectations, especially the rich broth that suited my taste.

3. Assorted Sashimi

The assorted sashimi was prepared immediately upon ordering, so it took some time, but we could enjoy the freshness of the fish. It was beautifully arranged on the plate, and I couldn’t wait to taste it.

The assortment allowed us to sample various cuts, keeping our interest from start to finish. Each piece had a distinct taste and texture, making for a delightful experience as we savored each bite.

The sashimi had a transparent, vibrant color and a clean taste, showcasing the quality of the fish. It was rich and firm, and even without dipping sauces, the flavors of the sea filled our mouths.

4. Lobster Cheese Butter Gratin

This restaurant offered a unique lobster dish, the Lobster Cheese Butter Gratin, which had an enticing aroma and an impressive visual appeal.

The melted cheese and butter on top of the lobster created a delightful smell. It was tender and salty, with a pleasantly soft texture that spread in the mouth.

5. Lobster Tail Sashimi

The lobster tail sashimi included in the special set was visually stunning as well. The thick meat was well-prepared and glistened enticingly.

It was convenient to eat right away, and the moment I took a bite, it melted pleasantly in my mouth, combining the unique sweetness and freshness of the lobster.

6. Steamed Crab

The steamed crab was impressively large and served fresh from the steamer, perfectly prepared. The sight of the plump crab was enough to stimulate our appetites.

Each leg was filled with succulent crab meat, and it was tender without any dryness. Eating it warm eliminated any fishy smell, allowing the salty flavor of the crab to delight our taste buds.

7. Spicy Soup

To complete our meal, we ordered a spicy soup, filled with fish and vegetables, which was both refreshing and flavorful. We also added grilled clams, which were juicy and complemented the meal perfectly.

Overall, the special set at Minam Pocha was a memorable experience. It was rewarding to enjoy such a hearty and delightful meal after a long time. I highly recommend visiting this local gem if you find yourself in Pohang.
