Today, I went to have dinner with my colleagues at the popular Chinese restaurant 'Gawon' in Yeonnam-dong.

While there are many trendy restaurants in Yeonnam-dong, sometimes you just crave hearty and greasy Chinese food, right?

Gawon is already famous for its delivery service, but nothing beats enjoying Chinese food at the restaurant itself!

Gawon, Yeonnam-dong

Address: 227-1, Donggyo-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul (1st and 2nd floors)

Opening Hours: 11:00 AM - 9:30 PM (Break time: 3 PM - 5 PM)

Reservations: Naver Reservation

Facilities: Separate restrooms for men and women, takeout, high chairs, delivery

Exterior

Gawon is located on a street near the Yeonnam-dong police station, utilizing both the 1st and 2nd floors.

When I visited around 5:30 PM, the 1st floor was fully occupied, so I was guided to the 2nd floor.

The stairs leading to the 2nd floor!

Interior

While the 1st floor had a local vibe, the 2nd floor felt cleaner and more organized.

There are plenty of seats, making it great for group gatherings.

Additionally, the 2nd floor offers a view of Yeonnam-dong!

If you visit during the day, you can enjoy a beautiful green view while dining.

You can place your order using the QR code on the table.

Payment is made when you leave, so even those who are not comfortable with mobile ordering can easily place their orders.

Menu

We wanted to try a variety of dishes, so we ordered a mix of dishes and meals.

We tried Jajangmyeon, Mapo Tofu Rice, Jjamppong, Yurinchi, and Kkanpunggi among others.

With menu items that you would expect only from a specialized Chinese restaurant, I highly recommend Gawon for its great value!

Food

As basic side dishes, we received pickled radish and Jajang sauce, along with egg soup as a side for the fried rice.

The food arrived in just about 5 minutes after ordering!

We ordered a diverse range including Jajangmyeon, Jjamppong, fried rice, and sweet and sour pork.

Sweet and sour pork costs 19,000 won and is a must-try at Gawon.

Even with the sauce poured over it, it was not soggy at all; the outside was crispy, and the inside was packed with tender meat.

The sweet sauce and fried meat combination was amazing!

We couldn't help but exclaim, "Wow, this is incredible!" as soon as we took our first bite.

It's no wonder this is a signature dish!

Jajangmyeon costs 10,000 won and looks stunning, featuring a fried egg on top, reminiscent of Busan-style Jajangmyeon.

If you're missing Busan-style Jajangmyeon, Gawon is the place to go!

The separately served Jajang sauce poured over the noodles was delicious, with crunchy onions and a rich flavor.

Jjamppong arrived to balance out any greasiness!

Packed with seafood, the broth was refreshing and spicy, and there was so much seafood that it felt endless.

A bite of sweet and sour pork followed by a sip of Jjamppong broth? You won't be able to stop!

I had a truly satisfying dinner with my colleagues after a long time.

While it's delicious for delivery, nothing beats enjoying freshly fried sweet and sour pork at the restaurant.

If you're looking for a restaurant with a great view in Yeonnam-dong, consider visiting 'Gawon'.

Make sure to order the sweet and sour pork!
