Hello!

The '2026 Goyang Special City Environmental Day' commemorative event was held on the 20th at the Goyang Flower Exhibition Hall, aiming to respond to the climate crisis and promote a culture of eco-friendly practices.

Under the slogan 'A Day for Nature, Together with Goyang!', the event featured a variety of experiences, exhibitions, performances, and markets that anyone could participate in for free.

Despite the rainy weather, many citizens of Goyang joined the festivities!

In line with the purpose of 'Environmental Day', instead of paper brochures, we utilized a 'QR code-based' digital guide and conducted eco-friendly activities like survey participation.

Before the main event began, a congratulatory performance by a singer-songwriter and the Goyang City Choir lifted the atmosphere.

The ceremony gathered many attendees, including distinguished guests and representatives of citizens committed to environmental protection and carbon neutrality, creating a festive atmosphere where everyone could enjoy and participate.

During the ceremony, awards were presented to individuals recognized for their contributions to the environment.

Eight representatives, including children, took the stage to remove pollution pieces from a contaminated Earth and place them into an 'Eco Box', symbolizing the completion of a green planet.

As families visited the event over the weekend, they enjoyed various experience zones divided into '15 eco-themed areas', learning about the importance of environmental preservation and practical ways to contribute.

Activities like 'Eco Bike Power Generation', 'Recycling Basketball', and 'Environmental Quiz' were particularly popular, drawing long lines at the game booths.

Each time participants experienced an 'environmental program', they added flower-shaped stickers to the 'seed cards' given at entry. After completing five activities and a survey, they could choose eco-friendly gifts like zipper bags or dishcloths.

Additionally, the 'seed cards' contained basil seeds, allowing participants to engage in planting activities.

While booth experiences were ongoing, the main stage featured performances by the Goyang City Children's Choir and the Goyang Taekwondo Demonstration Team, adding to the event's richness.

Other highlights included exhibitions of winning entries from the 'Climate Weather Photo Contest' and photos of the 'Goyang Janghang Wetland', allowing attendees to appreciate the beauty and grandeur of nature.

Lastly, the event included educational sessions for children and citizens on preserving the Earth's ecosystem, culminating in a performance that encouraged reflection on practical ways to protect our shared ecological space.

Families also participated in 'Junk Art' workshops, creating their own toys with the help of their parents, making for a fun and meaningful experience.

This year's Environmental Day event was particularly meaningful, offering programs that allowed citizens to actively practice carbon neutrality in their daily lives.

Let us start making small daily efforts for nature to create a better environment for our children's future.
