What is the 2026 Seoul Literary Journey?

Familiar streets and spaces in Seoul will unfold as scenes from literary works.

The 2026 Seoul Literary Journey is a citizen-participation literary program where participants can walk through the spaces depicted in literary works and experience their historical contexts.

Schedule: July 18 to October 31

Citizen Participation Cultural Program

* A total of 35 sessions will be held

1. Guided Walking Tours (25 sessions): A program that allows participants to walk through the Seoul settings of various literary works.

2. Literary Lectures (10 sessions): A program where participants can meet authors and explore their lives and creative worlds.

This year, we are expanding weekday evening programs and weekend tours to allow more citizens to participate.

Rather than just reading literature, participants will visit actual locations featured in novels, poems, and essays, guided by professional narrators to enhance their understanding of the works.

What works and locations will be featured in the 2026 Seoul Literary Journey?

This year's theme is "Literature: A Journey Beyond Time." Participants will explore the literary history of Seoul from the Joseon Dynasty to modern literature and popular fiction.

Featured Works:

Guided Walking Tour:

Representative Works:

- Lee Soon-won: "There is No Emergency Exit in Apgujeong-dong" (1990s) - A space of desire and consumption.

- Jung Yi-hyun: "Sweet My City" (2000s) - The everyday life of urban dwellers in Gangnam.

Additional Works:

- Kang Full's webtoon "Moving"

- Park Sang-young: "The Love Laws of Big Cities" - A diverse literary world of modern Seoul that younger generations can enjoy.

The guided tours are designed to make literature accessible and enjoyable for a wider audience.

How will the literary lectures with authors be conducted?

The literary lectures will be expanded from 5 to 10 sessions. They will take place in local public libraries on Friday evenings, in collaboration with the Seoul Library's 'Hip-Talk' program.

Featured Authors:

- Eun Hee-kyung: "Things I Couldn’t Throw Away"

- Baek Soo-rin: "Everything About Spring Nights"

- Lee Moon-jae: "There is a Dream that Makes You Dream"

Authors who have recorded contemporary life and society will meet with citizens.
