Hello, I am Jung Soo-bin, a social media supporter from Dangjin City.

Last weekend, on June 21, I visited the Dangjin Arts Center on the final day of the 13th Dangjin Cultural Arts Festival.

Surrounded by the lingering excitement of the festival, I enjoyed performances by local cultural clubs, experiencing the joy of community-driven arts and culture.

This year's festival, now in its 13th year, is a collaborative event created not only by professional artists but also by local cultural clubs and citizens.

It has established itself as a representative cultural festival of the region, where everyone can participate and enjoy being a part of the culture.

On the day I visited, the performances were held in the small auditorium of the Dangjin Arts Center.

The special stage featured acts such as Magic Atric, Circus Couple, Balloon Clown Jin, and Cotton Candy Performance - King Kong Story.

The cotton candy show took place in an outdoor space between the main and small auditoriums, creating a lively atmosphere with many children participating.

Children's laughter and enthusiastic responses filled the venue, enhancing the festive spirit.

The cotton candy show, combined with the clear early summer weather, brightened the festival atmosphere even more.

Before entering the auditorium, I observed the club members rehearsing on stage.

While waiting inside, families, friends, and citizens were gathered in the audience, and during the performances, I felt united with everyone in enjoying the show.

Performers included the Dangjin Family Band, Heenang Sea, Band Darak, Hanul Band 1st Generation, Pluto Band, and Wonchen Jeogeohan Band, along with SPR Music Club and the Synthesizer Support Team at the closing ceremony.

I was particularly moved by the passion displayed by the 1st Generation Hanul Band.

The outdoor performances featured the Korean Life Music Association Dangjin Branch, Hand Accordion, Solbaram Ocarina, SrB Sound Valley Saxophone Ensemble, and Chupa Chups Cheerleading Team.

While the stage lacked elaborate decorations or famous artists, this simplicity made it feel warm and approachable.

The performers were ordinary citizens easily found in our community.

From office workers to housewives and retirees enjoying hobbies, they showcased their honed skills on stage, connecting with the audience.

The day featured a variety of performances, including acoustic guitar, band performances, and choirs.

The heartfelt performances and warm applause from the audience transformed the small auditorium into a small festival.

What stood out most were the performers' expressions.

Rather than focusing on perfect execution or flashy techniques, the joy of enjoying music and creating the stage together was palpable.

The audience responded with enthusiastic applause after each performance, contributing to the festival's spirit.

This is why the Dangjin Cultural Arts Festival feels so special.

It naturally demonstrates that art is not just for a select few but is a part of life that everyone can engage in and enjoy.

Activities in cultural clubs go beyond mere hobbies; they connect people and enrich the local community.

The process of gathering people with shared interests to practice and prepare for performances holds meaning beyond culture itself.

Exhibitions such as the Chungnam Watercolor Festival, Calligraphy Love, Handwriting, and Calisonata were held on the first floor, while the second floor featured Line Art, Sonoro, and Choi Min-kyung's handicraft exhibition club.

Various hands-on activities were also prepared, and I participated in a balloon experience at the exhibition hall.

While other activities required prior reservations, I felt delighted watching a child enjoy making a knife.

The experience clubs included Puff Puff Balloon, Mokseonban Playground, Calligraphy Love, Jeondaem Village School, Line Art, Sonoro, and Choi Min-kyung Handicrafts.

This festival reminded me once again that cultural arts do not need to be grand or complicated.

Practicing guitar after work, singing with neighbors, and sharing hobbies can collectively form a cultural identity and become a festival.

The 13th Dangjin Cultural Arts Festival was a celebration created and enjoyed by the citizens themselves.

Although I did not witness the closing ceremony, the performances by the cultural clubs and the warm applause from the citizens conveyed the festival's intended message.

The festival provided excitement for some stepping onto the stage, encouragement for others in the audience, and precious time spent with family.

The operations team also ran a QR event mission tour with prizes and a beer booth.

Since I was with a child, I could only observe and not complete all the missions.

These small passions that bloom in daily life come together to form a culture, which in turn revitalizes the community, showcasing why the Cultural Arts Festival is cherished for so long.

Art is not something distant; it is close to our everyday lives.

And the true protagonists enriching that daily life are the citizens themselves.
