Exploring the Mineral Springs of Goyang City

Have you ever come across a mineral spring while hiking or walking? Are you still using them these days?

Did you know that Goyang City also has mineral springs? I visited the 'Jungsan Village Mineral Spring' to check it out.

In a time when buying bottled water or using water purifiers has become the norm, many people might not have experienced using a mineral spring.

In Goyang City, there are managed mineral springs available for residents to use. Currently, Goyang City oversees four mineral springs as part of its 'drinking water public facility' program: Daegwalgoe, Madu, Seongra Park, and Jungsan Village Mineral Spring.

Recently, Goyang City announced that they have conducted a thorough inspection of the facilities and hygiene of these four mineral springs and completed disinfection.

So, what do these mineral springs actually look like, and how is the water managed?

Among the four, I decided to visit the Jungsan Village Mineral Spring.

As I walked past the apartment complex, I spotted the 'Jungsan Village Mineral Spring' peeking through the lush greenery. It felt like discovering a secret spot not far from the urban apartment area!

The mineral spring has resting areas for citizens to sit and relax, as well as facilities to collect water. Water flows refreshingly from two taps.

It seemed that the locals frequently utilize this mineral spring. I saw people bringing large containers to fill with water, as well as others filling multiple bottles with mineral water. During my short stay, I noticed quite a few visitors coming to the spring.

Given the number of people using the spring, I was particularly curious about the water quality and hygiene management.

In anticipation of increased visitors during the summer, Goyang City has inspected the facilities and hygiene conditions of the mineral springs.

In June, they replaced the old ultraviolet sterilizers at the Jungsan Village and Madu mineral springs, and expanded the UV lamp facilities at Daegwal and Seongra Park mineral springs to improve water quality management.

Upon arriving at the mineral spring, I noticed a bulletin board displaying the water quality inspection results. Regular monthly water quality tests are conducted, and the results can also be checked on the Goyang City website.

Moreover, there were explanations about the Jungsan Village Mineral Spring and guidelines for using the spring effectively.

I filled a small water bottle with mineral water and took a sip. It was refreshing to experience the local 'drinking water public facility' that I had previously overlooked.

Goyang City plans to continue regular water quality testing and facility inspections to ensure a safe environment for citizens to enjoy.
