Hello!

How does Haengju Fortress, usually visited during the day, transform when the sun sets?

On October 9th, the '2026 Goyang National Heritage Night' event titled 'Haengju is Art' began.

On the first day of the event, I arrived a bit early to explore Haengju Fortress before sunset.

As the lights gradually turned on, I took my time to enjoy the scenery until it was completely dark.

The night at Haengju Fortress under the starlight was captivating!

From the entrance, a large moon sculpture caught my eye, something I had never seen before at Haengju Fortress.

As time passed, the lanterns and landscape lights became more vivid, transforming the entire fortress into a completely different atmosphere from the day!

The event '2026 Haengju is Art' runs from October 9th to 18th, for ten days at Haengju Fortress.

It operates daily from 6 PM to 10 PM, and this year's theme is 'Haengju under the Starlight.'

As the lanterns lit up, the night at Haengju Fortress began.

Before the sun fully set, I climbed the 'Fortress Path.'

Along the walking trail, colorful lanterns stretched out, naturally guiding me on where to go.

As it grew darker, the lights of the lanterns became much clearer.

The path through the forest and traditional streetlights blended well, and even though it was the same path I walked during the day, it felt quite different.

Throughout the path, I encountered stories related to the Battle of Haengju.

Exhibits introducing historical tales related to Haengju Fortress were set up, including the trident and whip of General Gwon Yul, and the righteous army leader Kim Cheon-il.

I could naturally read the information while strolling.

The festival was not just a visual experience but also offered hands-on activities.

Various experience booths were set up around the 'Apricot Blossom Hill.'

Activities included making Haengju starlight lanterns, eco-friendly Haengju keychains, nine-colored lucky turtles, and hanbok experiences.

Many families were waiting to participate in these diverse programs.

There were also experiences of trying on hanbok and traditional archery.

Since each experience had different operating methods and fees, it was advisable to check the signs on-site before participating.

While the event itself is free, some experience programs are paid.

As I climbed higher up the fortress, the name of this event, 'Haengju under the Starlight,' felt even more appropriate.

Surrounding Deogyangjeong, small lights twinkled, and the trees and sculptures around the Battle of Haengju Monument were illuminated.

Especially, the large moon sculpture and various colored small spherical lights created a picturesque scene at the Battle of Haengju Monument, where many people were taking photos.

As it got a bit darker, the atmosphere changed once again.

The small bulbs surrounding the Battle of Haengju Monument and the moon-shaped sculptures blended together, making it feel less like a historical site and more like a night exhibition.

During this year's event, night landscapes were created in key areas like the Battle Gate, the statue of General Gwon Yul, and the Battle of Haengju Monument.

Performances were also held at Deungui Jeong!

On October 9th, many citizens were seated in front of the stage waiting for the performance.

With Deungui Jeong as the stage, performances were held alongside a large screen behind it, providing a different atmosphere than a typical performance venue.

During the event, 'Sanseong Music Concerts' take place on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings at Deungui Jeong.

Visitors can enjoy performances by Goyang Buskers and traditional Korean flute players, with the program varying by date.

While enjoying the festival, I noticed the connection with the surrounding commercial areas.

The event signage displayed 47 participating businesses, including nearby restaurants and cafes.

During the event, if you spend over 30,000 won at a participating store and present the receipt, you can receive souvenirs like LED rose flowers from the event headquarters.

Experiencing the festival at Haengju Fortress and utilizing nearby food villages and cafes was a notable feature of this event.

Haengju Fortress is often visited during the day due to its historical significance from the 'Battle of Haengju,' but this time, the beauty of its nighttime appearance left a lasting impression.

If you wish to see a completely different view of the familiar Haengju Fortress in October, visiting '2026 Haengju is Art' would be a great idea.

Thank you.
