After waiting 2 to 3 months, cargo ships are now visiting regularly!

Living on an island can make it challenging to obtain daily necessities.

Especially for the small islands around Heuksan-do, where cargo ship schedules have been irregular, residents have faced difficulties in receiving essential supplies on time.

To alleviate these inconveniences, Sinan County will start regular public cargo ship operations from October 15!

Let’s explore the changes, from stable logistics to reduced transportation costs for residents.

Regular visits from the public cargo ship will enhance supply reliability!

Previously, small islands around Heuksan-do often saw irregular private cargo ship operations due to low transport volumes.

At times, there was no ship for 2 to 3 months, making it hard to procure daily necessities, LPG gas, and building materials.

This also affected the delivery of seafood, which is vital for residents' livelihoods.

On major tourist islands like Hongdo, delays in transporting waste to the mainland led to unpleasant odors and waste accumulation issues.

To address these challenges, Sinan County will deploy a 228-ton public cargo ship to operate regularly among 7 small islands around Heuksan-do.

This will stabilize the logistics of daily supplies, bringing positive changes to residents' lives.

Which islands will the ship visit, and how often?

The public cargo ship will dock at Yeori Port on Heuksan-do and will regularly operate to nearby small islands.

Operations Schedule:

☑️ 3 times a week: Daedun-do, Damul-do

☑️ Once a week: Hongdo, Yeongsan-do, Jangdo, Ha and Sangtaedo

The ship can transport vehicles and various daily supplies.

The new public cargo ship can carry up to 17 mid-sized cars.

It is expected to provide stable transportation of essential goods and assist in seafood deliveries and waste removal.

Additionally, transportation costs for Sinan County residents will significantly decrease!

Previously, using private cargo ships could cost hundreds of thousands of won for vehicle transportation.

To ease the economic burden on residents, Sinan County has overhauled its vehicle fare system.

New Vehicle Fares for Sinan Residents:

???? Mid-sized car: 2,000 won

???? Truck under 1 ton: 2,000 won

These fares are significantly lower compared to private shipping costs.

This reduction in transportation costs is meaningful for island residents facing challenging logistics.

This regular cargo ship service is not just about a new vessel; it represents a significant change to address the logistics issues closely connected to islanders' daily lives.

County Mayor Kim Tae-sung emphasized the importance of improving the rights and welfare of residents living on remote islands.

Sinan County will continue to advocate for improvements in transportation issues and living conditions for island residents.

With stable supply of essential goods, residents can gradually alleviate daily inconveniences.

Sinan County is committed to creating meaningful changes for the lives of island residents.
