Gochang International Theater Festival: A Summer Celebration

Hello, this is reporter Kim Min-hye.
Currently, the Gochang International Theater Festival is taking place at Su-seungdae, a scenic spot in Gochang County, during the peak vacation season.
The opening ceremony was held on July 31, featuring a performance by Fusion Korean Traditional Music Queen and a mime show titled 'I am a Tin Man.'
The festival runs from July 31 to August 9.
Fusion Korean Traditional Music Queen consists of Kim Ga-eul, Shin So-eul, Jeon Go-eun, Jung Yi-su, and Kim Je-na. Formed in 2008, they have been actively performing both domestically and internationally, gaining experience and skills over the years.
They made a significant mark by releasing their first regular album 'New Folk Songs' in 2021 and appearing on MBN's audition program 'Chosun Star.'
They are also recognized as the first Korean traditional music YouTubers, crossing various genres to popularize and globalize Korean traditional music through performances in over 60 cities across 35 countries.
Kim Ga-eul, the vocalist of Fusion Korean Traditional Music Queen, is gaining attention as a rising star in the pansori scene in South Korea. She has shown a natural talent for singing since childhood and is receiving numerous invitations for her compelling voice and unique stage presence.
The performance from 6:00 to 6:30 PM started with only a few audience members, but by 6:00 PM, the seats were filled, and everyone enjoyed the show together.
Food trucks offering tteokbokki, ice cream, and chicken were also available, adding to the festive atmosphere.
There is a popular voting zone for Gochang's nine scenic spots, and it will be interesting to see which location receives the most votes.
Free bottled water is being provided throughout the venue to help visitors cope with the heat, as temperatures soar above 37 degrees Celsius.
At the Su-seungdae lawn square, Gochang's representative characters, Sagak-i and Geobok-i, greet the visitors. There are also experience zones and a roulette section operated by the Gochang Tourism Office, which has been popular among tourists from other regions.
The second performance, 'I am a Tin Man,' involves audience interaction. The performer, who initially specialized in popping dance, has transitioned into mime performances. The audience bursts into laughter as the performer approaches them with humorous gestures.
The ticket box is located near the Turtle Theater, where the opening ceremony took place. Many visitors waited in line to see a play by Son Suk.
With various plays and performances happening throughout Su-seungdae, I hope everyone enjoys their time at the Gochang International Theater Festival.
The excitement of the opening ceremony was incredible!
