Did you know there is a place where you can see a unique landscape resembling the map of Korea from a high vantage point?
Located at the foot of Duta Mountain in Jincheon, the 'Korea-Shaped Landscape Observation Park' offers a stunning view of Chopyeongho and the Korean Peninsula.
Before visiting, I was curious about how far I could drive up the mountain. To my surprise, I found that I could easily reach the parking lot of the observation park by car, making it quite convenient to enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Initially, I worried about having to navigate narrow mountain roads to reach the observation park. Fortunately, the entrance and exit routes were clearly marked, and the roads were well-maintained, making it easy to get to the park.
Although the road was winding, the ability to drive close to the observation point was a significant advantage of the park.
Upon arriving at the parking lot just below the observation deck, I was pleasantly surprised to see the observation deck right in front of me, much closer than I had anticipated.
At the entrance to the observation deck, there were benches where visitors could take a short break. Just a little further up, the view opened up, and I could see Chopyeongho. On my visit, a refreshing breeze made it a perfect spot to sit back and enjoy the lake.
If climbing directly to the top feels daunting, you can take a moment to relax and appreciate the view from the benches. I found it impressive how enjoyable the lake's scenery is, even from the entrance benches.
After taking in the view for a while, I slowly made my way to the observation deck. The deck spirals around a tall tower, rising about 14.5 meters, offering an increasingly wider view of Chopyeongho as you ascend.
Personally, I found the journey up to be just as enjoyable as the view from the top. As I climbed, the lake gradually came into view, and the outline of the Korea-shaped landform began to emerge.
Instead of revealing everything at once, the view expands as you ascend, adding to the thrill of spotting the Korea-shaped terrain.
Upon reaching the top, I was greeted by a breathtaking panorama I had only seen in photos. The land shaped like the Korean Peninsula was clearly visible amidst Chopyeongho, framed by layers of mountains and sky.
It was almost disappointing to leave without fully exploring the surrounding views, as each direction offered stunning landscapes.
What made this experience even better was not having to embark on a long hike to enjoy such views. A short walk from the parking area brought me to the observation deck, allowing me to gaze down at Chopyeongho with ease.
The Korea-Shaped Landscape Observation Park was designed to provide easy access to the unique natural scenery of Chopyeongho.
As the number of visitors seeking the Korea-shaped terrain increased, an observation deck was installed near the Three Brothers Rocks in 2012. This led to the development of the park, which includes access roads, parking lots, and observation facilities for a more convenient view of Chopyeongho.
Exploring the park, I found the Korea-shaped terrain itself fascinating, but the overall scenery created by Chopyeongho and the surrounding mountains was equally impressive.
Each time I climbed around the observation deck, I enjoyed the thrill of spotting the Korea-shaped landform gradually revealing itself, making the ascent enjoyable.
While one might expect a long hike to reach a mountain observation deck, the Korea-Shaped Landscape Observation Park allows for easy access by car, making it a delightful experience.
You can choose to enjoy the entire view of Chopyeongho from the top or simply relax at the entrance benches, taking in the lake's beauty with a gentle breeze.
If you want to experience a unique natural landscape that is not easily found in Jincheon, visiting the Korea-Shaped Landscape Observation Park to explore the Korea-shaped view of Chopyeongho is a great option.
