The Citizen Participation Group believes that "our role is to identify and suggest improvements for the inconveniences in daily life that the administration has overlooked from the citizens' perspective." Members are actively working to create a safer and more considerate Dangjin.

The activities of the 5th Women-Friendly City Citizen Participation Group are not just about the title of being a women-friendly city, but also about building a city where citizens feel safe and cared for.
Let's take a look at the capacity-building training and meetings that serve as a crucial foundation for this progress.
The 5th Women-Friendly City Citizen Participation Group continues to engage actively in policy participation and monitoring for the creation of a safe and happy city for both women and citizens.
This group acts as a civic policy partner, directly monitoring the inconveniences and unfair situations women encounter in their daily lives and proposing improvement suggestions. They examine local issues from a citizen's viewpoint and offer practical improvement directions while fulfilling various roles in establishing a women-friendly city.
Rather than merely voicing opinions, the Citizen Participation Group is involved in practical policy activities for creating a women-friendly city.
They conduct field monitoring on inconveniences and unfair situations faced by women, propose new initiatives and policy directions for a women-friendly city, identify areas for institutional improvement related to women-friendly policies, and engage in consensus-building and promotional activities to spread a women-friendly local culture.
Currently, the Citizen Participation Group consists of 21 members and holds regular meetings and capacity-building training at least four times a year. They are also active in ensuring that citizens' voices are reflected in policies through field monitoring and participation in projects related to the women-friendly city.
The 5th Citizen Participation Group has been divided into subcommittees focused on gender awareness, carbon neutrality, environmental safety, and social welfare to enhance their expertise.
Each subcommittee examines various topics such as improving living environments, proposing policies from a gender equality perspective, implementing eco-friendly practices, and identifying welfare gaps.
They are actively involved in activities related to women's safety.
By participating in meetings of the Women's Safety Working Group, they convey on-site opinions and offer various improvement suggestions from a citizen's perspective during the process of promoting women's safety projects in 2026.
Currently, Dangjin City is promoting safety projects through collaboration among various departments to create a women-friendly city.
In a recent meeting, training focused on the theme of "Creating Better Projects Through Citizens' Eyes" was conducted.
During the training, the Citizen Participation Group discussed how to evaluate the effectiveness of policies and suggest improvement directions beyond simple monitoring. The importance of the ability to articulate on-site issues in policy language was emphasized.
Additionally, the meeting gathered opinions to promote monitoring activities for the 'Market Basket Project' aimed at local resource circulation and environmental protection. The Citizen Participation Group plans to check the usage of traditional markets and basket usage while contributing to the spread of eco-friendly consumption culture.
The greatest achievement of the Dangjin City Women-Friendly City Citizen Participation Group is that citizens' opinions are being translated into actual policies.
Projects closely related to daily life, such as creating safe return paths, expanding CCTV, and improving public restroom safety, reflect citizens' on-site opinions and are being pursued in a more effective direction.
Above all, the Citizen Participation Group operates not as a "target of policies" but as a "subject that creates policies together." The process of observing the field through citizens' eyes, raising issues in citizens' language, and proposing solutions from citizens' perspectives becomes the core value of a women-friendly city.
