On the 100th day of the 9th elected term of Shinan County,
Mayor Kim Tae-sung visited Ha-ui-myeon
to engage with the residents.
Instead of a formal ceremony,
it was a meaningful day spent listening to the voices of the community
and discussing local challenges.
This is a report on the day when the mayor visited various places in Ha-ui-myeon
and listened to the residents' stories.
Starting with a work report in Ha-ui-myeon,
Mayor Kim met and encouraged employees from the health center
and agricultural technology center.
He then visited the birthplace of former President Kim Dae-jung,
paying his respects and reflecting on the meaning of democracy,
reinforcing his commitment to the future of Shinan.
At this starting point for governance,
he reflected on the local history and values,
continuing his efforts to understand the lives of the residents.
In the afternoon, a 'Town Hall Meeting' was held
with over 100 residents of Ha-ui-myeon.
During this meeting, residents freely shared their opinions
on various issues facing Ha-ui-myeon and discussed future development directions.
Key discussion points included:
✔️ Improvement of inconveniences in daily life
✔️ Development of agriculture and fisheries, and improvement of residents' income
✔️ Transportation and healthcare service improvements
✔️ Enhancement of living conditions for local residents
This was a time to hear the voices from the field,
from everyday inconveniences to various opinions for the region's future.
After the Town Hall Meeting,
the mayor visited the site of the 'Ha-ui Wharf Access Road Improvement'
to address residents' suggestions.
He confirmed the issues visually
and instructed relevant departments to quickly devise improvement measures,
ensuring that residents' opinions lead to tangible changes.
Additionally, he visited a salt farm
to understand the current state of salt production
and challenges faced in the process,
seeking ways to enhance the competitiveness of Shinan's representative specialty industry,
which will contribute to increasing residents' income.
This field visit, tailored to the island's characteristics,
utilized administrative vessels, vehicles, and walking
to thoroughly assess various challenges faced by the residents.
Mayor Kim emphasized that he will find answers in the field
and carefully review the opinions collected from the Town Hall Meeting
to translate them into practical policies and projects.
Listening to the voices of the residents
and ensuring that no minor inconvenience is overlooked
will hopefully lead to a better tomorrow for Shinan.
We ask for your continued interest
as we work together with the residents to find solutions in the field!
